It is becoming increasingly unlikely that Bitcoin will reclaim the psychologically significant $100,000 mark within the current calendar year. On the decentralized betting platform Polymarket, the probability of this happening has fallen to just 18 percent, following a pullback in the BTC price to as low as $79,160 on Saturday afternoon. According to popular crypto analyst Ali Martinez, there is even a risk of further selling in the short term; the U.S. midterm elections are approaching on November 3—an event that, in previous election cycles, has consistently been followed by significant corrections in the price of Bitcoin.

In 2010, the price of Bitcoin fell by 72 percent, followed by declines of 65 percent in 2014, 52 percent in 2018, and 27 percent in 2022. While the expert emphasizes that correlation does not imply causation, he notes that “the consistency of the pattern warrants attention.”

Should selling pressure intensify following the elections, Martinez identifies one level as critical for the future price trajectory: $73,000. This price point currently represents the "realized cost basis" for short-term holders—a figure that reflects the average entry price for this group of investors.

“My key level to the downside is $73,000,” the analyst states. If the price were to drop into this zone, he would personally wait for signs of seller exhaustion and a resurgence in demand before considering a long position. I quoted from the following article...

My personal take:

If the prices of all cryptocurrencies were to drop sharply once again in November, I would actually be quite pleased—because the majority of my stablecoins are locked up until November, at which point I’ll be able to convert them into my preferred cryptocurrencies. Perhaps I’ll get lucky and land a solid discount when I make my purchases.
