Hello everyone, as we all know, this is the harvest season, so I went to my farm yesterday to harvest cocoyam. I went with a big hoe to easily dig out the cocoyam because of the dry ground, and it reduces the risk of breakage.

Cocoyam is a versatile staple food in the southeastern part of Nigeria, commonly referred to as "ede."

It is widely cultivated and consumed in various forms such as:

  • Boiled: This is the most common way of consuming cocoyam, and it's often served with oil or soup.

  • Pounded Cocoyam: Pounded cocoyam can be eaten with soup or also used in making dishes such as soup. It serves as a thickener because of its high starch content.

  • Cocoyam Flour: Cocoyam can be consumed by processing it into cocoyam flour, making it easier to store for a long period of time. Cocoyam flour can be used in thickening soup, making fufu, etc.
