Good Day Everyone, and here we go again.... Welcome to my Splinterlands Battle Mage Secret challenge. On this round, we have Keep Your Distance ruleset as our main theme.
Keep Your Distance ruleset will forbid any units with melee attack to join into battlefield. So we can say that only Range and Magic type of attacks which are eligible for your line up.
People usually focus on one of them, either Magic or Range. Range units are less favorable because they can't be any usefull when they get onto main tank position. However going with one of the type only is less favorable... because usually people will set some counter, either for magic or for range. So if you go all in with magic and your opponent is anti magic lineup, you are doom. Same goes with Range.
Anyway what tips I will share here? I just joined this RISE OF CHAMPION tournament, not because I am cool or great, in fact I did not manage to get into second phase. However in this tournament, I got some battles that I could learn a lot from, whether it ended up as winning or losing.

Let's see our battle then
THE BATTLE
This was the battle I believed the epic one and suitable for today post. In this tournament, where you could pick any units at max level, you would be able to build up your dream line up, right?
Well hell NO, ITS WROONGGGG!!!
You would end up confuse and got brain freeze not knowing what to do because there were too many great units on your selection. When you made up your mind, usually only left than 2 minutes available and mostlikely you feel unease and panic.
Ok here was the ruleset:

A combination of Rise of Common with Rebirth, honestly I was very tempted to use martyr such as Venari Marksrat. However this was an Epic Battle, with 49 mana and you could pick any edition card at max level... Going with Martyr seemed not a wise move this time. There were tonnes of scary powerful units available on your list.
This battle... I believed neither of us had our core units... All of them were our best, we went out with very similar tactics.
- We both used Byzantine Kitty as our Summoners. We wished to hit first and none of our attacks should be missed.
- Both of us using Snipe ability. We were expecting to see opponent sturdy unbreakable tank, so we aimed the backline too bypassing that annoying tank.
- We both used the latest Promo Card, Hencling Enforcer
Let see how this would go then...

-
The battle started with both of us buffing up our team and debuffing our opponents. My opponent focused on defense while my team put more emphasize on offense.
-
My opponent came with 9 range damage and 6 magic damage. Combined all, they became 15 damage per round
-
My team had 12 range damage and 4 magic damage. It's 16 damage per round, almost similar to my opponent firepower.
-
This was an interesting match up, although both of us using the same tactic, but our selection was different.

- Nobody died in first round. Both of us brought a strong tank and those tanks withstood the those attacks.
- However my team managed to steal a kill, they lost their Warrior Of Peace in this round. Eventhough he got reborn, my silvershield sherrif killed him again.

-
It's 5 vs 6 and my team had one unit advantage at this point. We killed their Lone boatman this time, however he got revived from the rebirth ruleset.

-
Round 4 was almost similar as round 3, however this time my team managed to kill their lone boatman for good. there was no 3rd revival. He gone now.

-
Round 5 it's 4 vs 6, my team had got the gap. However this round was their, they managed to lessen the gap

-
Round 6 started with 5 vs 6 however look at their Grimbardun Smith... He was still at max health point!! What a nasty tank he was.
-
My team killed their Runic Skyclaw in this raw, however he got revived from the ruleset.

- My team killed their Runic again and this time no more revival. However I lost my Time Meddler... and this time my Time Meddler got revived from the ruleset.

- Round 8 started with their Grimbardun Smith at his best condition. He was really something!!!
- I lost my time meddler for good on this round

- Round 9 started with 3 vs 4, and I started to think their Grumbardun Smith was a cheat one because none of my units seemed able to kill him.

- What the hell, Grimbardun Smith was still ok in front, standing strong as what an Ideal Tank should be.

- We killed Grimbardun Smith this round, he got revived and we killed again. Finally, he could die!!

- Without that sturdy Grimbardun Smith around, I saw my team had grasped the victory here.

- Round 13 was the last, Good Game dude

CLOSURE AND DISCUSSION
In the end, this battle was decided by who had the better tanks and better snipers.
That's the best conclusion for this battle, however either side, the winner and the loser, showed a good meta or line up in this battle. I won quite convincing although both of us using the same tactic because of better tanks and harder snippers.
Let see what other points we could take from this battle:
1. Grimbardun Smith Is Insane

The reason it became a long fight because my team had a hard time trying to bring down their Grimbardun Smith. If I did not use Snipe attackers and they had a healer, it's a total loss for my side.
I dare to say that Grimbardun Smith is a must have card if you want to challenge Splinterlands Leaderboard.
2. Anachron Bolter Is A Game Changer

One of the reason why I could win convincingly is due to this guy, Anachron Bolter. In this battle, he had the same usecase as Lone Boatman, the different was Anachron could step forward as the third tank and he was the sole reason why I could hold Grimbardun Smith from demolishing all of my line up.
The reason why I won this battle was him too. I had three tanks, Prismatic Energy, Time Meddler, and this dude Anachron Bolter.
3. Expecting Everyone Favorite, Runic Skyclaw

I know you might wonder why it is not Hencling Enforcer. I do think the same, Hencling Enforcer is going to be everyone favorite however it is hard to get him without ghost card tournament. He is limited and the price is not friendly too.
So my discussion is about Runic Skyclaw. It's kind of a must have card, even for next year when he will be put into wild format, I do believe Runic is still stronger and favorable compared to older version card.
So like it or not, in keep your distance ruleset, we will often see him around. Expect to utilize this dude or countering him for sure.
That's all for my battle mage secret post today, thank you for reading it and I am looking forward to see you guys again on Splinterlands Tournament!!!
