The Apology That Never Came

The rule no one is above the law is only valid to those who are subordinate but for those in higher ranks that rule is just there for formalities.

It is assumed that elders and leaders are always perfect, their shortcomings are considered mistakes while those of the young people and those under them are considered sins.

Parents and their children were watching a movie, and one of the children mistakenly farted out of excitement, the child was given the beating of his or her life but the parent farted and no one acted like something happened. No one could even go out.

I know these are simple cases and they look so innocent but honestly, they ought not be so if we are to be unbiased. Well, how can someone who enacts the law be punished? I mean, who will punish them? What if they now say, anyone who punishes them commits a crime? LoL.

Aside from that, the truth is that elders, parents, and leaders take advantage of those under them a lot. They make laws but they don't follow them.

I have this bad habit of laughing or smiling in serious situations. I tried to stop it over the years but I couldn't because it's who I am. My mom dislikes it and scolds me severally, sometimes even beating me for it but it still prevails.

Some years back, my mom misplaced her ATM card. She was actually going to get some money when closed from work that day. All she thought was she kept the card in her bag.

Unfortunately, after waiting in the queue for hours and it was eventually her turn, her card was nowhere to be found. When she came home, she was furious.

She sought for it but didn't find it. I was the last person who transacted with the card, so she called me and started interrogating me. I told her I dropped the card exactly where she asked me to.

She didn't believe me but kept asking questions, okay I have another bad habit, I used to pick valuables carelessly and hide them. Over the years anyone looking for anything in the house and didn't find it, they come straight to me and start pleading. If I laugh or smile just know that it's in my possession. I might stress you around but give it to you finally.

That day Mom thought it was the same situation because I composed and was just looking at the way she was frustrated. When she saw that my face was bright, she stopped searching, kept a serious face, and said "Give me the card."

The thing sounded funny, I didn't even enter her room that day and as soon as she finished preparing to go to work, she locked her door and left. So, I started laughing. "Give me my Card,"  she repeated and I told her it was not with me.

The thing got her pissed off and she started shouting. She went to my room and searched everywhere she could lay her hand but didn't find it, so she angrily left my room. The whole situation made me wish I really took it so that I would hand it over to her and end the whole drama.

The next day, my younger sister told me that  Mom found the ATM in one of the bags in the room. When she came back from her business that day in the evening, I was expecting her to tell me sorry for how she reacted but she didn't. To worsen the situation, she asked me to help her withdraw money the next day and that was how the  matter died off

How Did I feel?

Honestly, I felt bad, felt cheated, and played. Imagine I was beaten, it would have gone for nothing. Our parent's pride is something else.
