A lot of things have been said about money; some say “the love of money is the root of evil,” some say “money changes people,” and so many other things.
The truth is, none of those perceptions about money is wrong, but its efficacy depends on who has the substance.
We have seen people who used to be humble and respectful become arrogant and disrespectful when they became rich.
We have been with people who used to be like family, but they became something else, ignoring our calls and avoiding us when they became rich.
These things happen almost everywhere in society, and it's almost enough for us to say that money changes people because when those people had nothing, they weren't so.
Nevertheless, that statement can not be completely valid because there are people who have money yet haven't lost themselves in the substance.
For me, I think both mindset and money have the ability to tamper with people's personalities.
There are cases where money only reveals the true intentions of their hearts, and there are cases where money is responsible for the unwanted transformation.
Some would have been humble and kind if only they had no money. That exposure and pride of life wouldn't be there, but when money came, they got exposed; they saw what they ought not to, which they were not prepared for, and they fell woefully.
On the other hand, some people already have these thoughts but are held back by the lack of money, and as soon as money comes, they can't hold themselves back anymore and do what is already lying dormant in their hearts.
So, both money and mindset can be the reason why people change when they become rich. But one can still choose to be good even when he has all the money in the world.
It's a matter of decisions and deliberate discipline because, honestly, money comes with a compelling influence to change people.
It is just like a force; if your strength doesn't supersede the force it comes with, you will be carried away no matter how good your heart used to be.
How do we build that capacity or strength then? The answer is simple: build your character, work on yourself; it is what you have that you will give.
You can not be humble, kind, and nice overnight; it's something you cultivate through regular practice over time.
This is where a lot of people get it wrong. When you see people saying rich people lack some of these virtues, sometimes this is the cause: they came and met money without good preparation for it.

What do you expect of someone like that? This is why it hurts me when I see someone who struggled to get to the top and suddenly became something else. It's as if the time God gave him to prepare himself was wasted.
Money is good, but having money and good character is the best.
