Testing in black and white (@enraizar)

Hello to all you friends of shitty photos. Today I have the pleasure of presenting a good set of them to this community, where they will undoubtedly be appreciated as they deserve: as shitty photos.

This time the protagonist is black and white, although it would be better than talking about black and white, to refer to the range of grays that exist between these two extremes.

I've been experimenting with this type of photography for a few months now. Everything you see here is part of those tests. I still feel more comfortable using color, but I wanted to experiment.

Most of the images were taken at those times of the day when without the presence of the sun the landscapes look very different.

It has been a very long winter in this part of the world, so much so that there is still tons of snow in the mountains around Madrid. Today, for example, in the middle of spring, we are having a cold and rainy day.

In these images that I bring you today, you can glimpse from my mobile phone this slow, almost agonizing arrival of spring.

Night landscapes, sleeping trees and dry branches are the protagonists of many of these images. The challenge was how to freeze these images that had come out of reality and passed through the filter of my head. I have no doubt that anyone else would have captured a different landscape, even if the reality was the same. The use of light, framing and certain angles instead of others are part of the ingredients that make each image correspond to a subjective perception of reality.

On this occasion, I think that some of the images show something very similar to what I wanted to show. In this task, not being a photographer, or rather being a shitty photographer, the use of a mobile phone with many automated functions makes everything easier.

Anyway, in addition to trying out more options with the mobile phone camera, this time I ventured into the world of black and white and I was also curious to see the results. There is no doubt that these color photos would have been very different. You can see this by comparing the black and white images with two photographs taken in color.

I don't know if it's just me, or if the reader of this publication also thinks that color photographs evoke different sensations from the others. On the other hand, there are also two photographs taken on the Madrid metro. In this case, they belong to a series that shows the departure and arrival of two trains in the Madrid metro. In this case, the resource used was glass and its reflections. The result seems curious to me, it seems that reality has unfolded in different layers due to the simultaneous effects of transparency and reflection of the glass through which I took the photographs.

The last photograph is the most recent. It is from today, a day that dawned rainy and in which the artificial light of cars and street lamps painted the ground with colors. In this photo, they have painted the ground a range of grays.
