A mediados de los años 2000', vimos cómo el fútbol, a nivel de clubes, empezó a tomar otras formas. Esto, con respecto a la migración de jugadores tradicionales, como: Españoles e Ingleses, a otras ligas, era muy difícil ver a un futbolista de esta nacionalidad, en equipos que no fuesen los de su país de origen, dando el primer paso, a que esto sucediera de una manera más seguidas con el pasar de los años, hasta tal punto, de ver a directores técnicos españoles, dirigiendo en la famosa Premier League de Inglaterra.
Eso tampoco era muy descabellado a que sucediera, pues, es muy común ver a jugadores de distintas nacionalidades jugar en otras ligas, pero ver al español Rafael Benítez dirigir al club inglés del Liverpool, era todo acontecimiento en ese entonces, así como la ida a ese club de futbolistas de la talla de Xavi Alonso, siguiéndole luego otros más, como Cec Fábregas y Gerard Piqué, Arsenal y Manchester United respectivamente, teniendo éxitos además en su estadía en tierras lejanas.

Si de esas cosas se tratan, la confederación brasileña de fútbol, estuvo a punto de contratar al técnico italiano Carlo Ancelotti, el múltiple ganador de copas en varias de las Ligas de clubes más importantes de Europa, iba a ser, el que cambiara todo en el fútbol, ver a un técnico no tan solo que fuese extranjero, dirigir a la selección nacional de Brasil, sino que fuese italiano, iría a ser lo que en definitiva, iba a evolucionar el mundo del balón a cuadros, expandiendo nuestras mentes, hacia la globalización total del balompié a nivel mundial.
