The marketing strategy that consistently works is airdrops and giveaways, and it is so popular that big projects use the airdrop system for promotion. Building communities and rewarding loyal users, the airdrop system is perfect for them. Free token seems like not bad for anyone, but it has legal issues too.

What Are Airdrops?

Airdrops are the process by which a project can offer free tokens to users who do simple tasks like social media following, interacting on social media, holding any tokens, providing liquidity, and swaps. This can be given before the exchange listing in the wallet or sometimes directly in exchange. It is simple that if you are completing a task through any exchange, you receive tokens in the exchange. For example, Binance and other exchanges provide airdrops in which you can earn some extra tokens just by holding BSC on Binance.

Securities Laws and Token Classification

Whether the token that you are taking is security or not is an important thing because if that token is security, then there is a strict regulation, even if you are getting it for free. This rule has been set by the SEC. You have to read the policy once regarding security tokens, and that is not gonna good for anyone.

Tax Implications

You can lose the value of your tokens when you have to pay taxes on them. There are different rules in other countries, but here I am talking about the US. The free tokens that you have received as an airdrop and hunted from any new crypto project are required to be reported to the tax authority; otherwise, it can be a legal concern for you.

Regulatory Enforcement & Scrutiny

There are lots of cryptocurrency projects coming to the market, and they also airdrop their tokens. When you see data, there are many projects faced legal issues for unregistered security. Basically the authority demands KYC and projects follo the anti-money launderling act rules and that is why tit is not guranteed that every project can do it. This airdrop can be considered an illegal lottery and giveaways, so you always have to be careful when it comes to airdrops because they look easy to grab, but it is not.

This pressure is not only for the projects, but authority forces centralized social media platforms to limit scams, and yes, airdrop projects are on their hit list.

My final thoughts on this topic

So, airdrops and giveaways are also not saved from regulation and taxes. If you are doing airdrops, then read this information again and be careful. I am not saying that hunt free tokens permanently, but be careful and play safely.
This way, you can be saved from legal concerns that come from these airdrops. Anyway, please share this post on social media and also leave a comment below regarding this issue. My time is now up, I'll try to meet you tomorrow with the greatest article.
