Today I had to leave the house for a very urgent need. It was already noon. As soon as I reached my house and stepped onto the main road, a heavy weight hit my chest. The road ahead was filled with rows and rows of vehicles. I was shocked. I never thought such a situation would happen.

I had to reach my destination, so I started walking slowly without seeing any way out. But walking in the crowd of cars was also a chore. The road seemed to be finding its way through one bus, autorickshaw, and tempora after another. It seemed as if the entire city had come down this road. The sidewalks were also crowded with people. People of all ages and professions were restless to reach their destinations. A mother was walking carefully through the crowd with her small child in her arms. A rickshaw puller was trying his best to move forward with his passenger despite the heavy traffic. People were also crowded in front of various shops on the side of the road. Long lines were seen at some shops for food. All in all, it was a suffocating situation.

The sun was setting in the west. Even in the soft afternoon light, the pain of traffic jams did not seem to be less. Like me, many others were losing patience after sitting in buses or autorickshaws for long periods. Many were trying to walk again. An elderly man was repeatedly looking at his watch, perhaps he had a doctor's appointment or some other important work. The most painful scene was the look of annoyance on the face of a small child sitting inside a private car. The child was restless and repeatedly trying to look out of the car window. It was understood that he too could not bear this long traffic jam. Due to the traffic jam, the atmosphere had become even more unbearable with the excessive sound of horns on the road.

After a long struggle, I finally reached my destination. But the pain of this traffic jam made me think deeply. Is this situation happening because of the increase in population and the number of vehicles in the city? The government and the concerned authorities should take some effective steps in this regard quickly. Let us common people move around with some ease. Only then will the city become livable. I am disappointed to think when the traffic jams will reduce in this city. Such scenes have become a daily companion. Therefore, the authorities' vigilance is essential.
