"How long has it been since I have been taking the stock of things in the store? 6 months, 7 months?" I thought to myself as I sat behind my desk watching the new admin officer walk to and fro the office waiting to see if I was in despair. She had ordered me to stop taking stock of things in the store after Mrs Chineye went on leave due to her pregnancy. "Did I do anything wrong to deserve such treatment?" while I was deep in thought, a faint sound called out my name but I wasn't ready to give it my attention. "Fash, Fash" Seliat called out my name as she gave me a gentle tap on the side of my arm which called me back to reality.
"Miss Christabel has been calling you" I jumped up from my chair immediately after she mentioned the new admin name. "I am coming ma" I raised my voice so she would hear me from her office. I hurried to her office because I was trying to offend her again.

"Good afternoon ma," I said looking at her table struggling to make eye contact with her.
"Yes, Yes, afternoon to you too. So, you heard my voice and refused to answer me right? Is that how..."
Before she could finish her statement, I jumped in "No ma! I did not hear when you were calling me, I was..." I said in the most apological way I could while looking at her, but she also did not allow me to finish my statement before she cut me off too.
"So Seliat has a better hearing system than you, right? Anyways, from tomorrow, you will be at the receptionist's desk. That's where you will be working from now" I couldn't say a word as I walked out of her office.
The following day came swiftly, and I was at the receptionist's desk doing my job to the best of my ability. It had been two months since I started working at the front desk, Magdalene was now tasked to go to the store to take records and everything was going fine until one day, the chairman needed to know the amount of baby scales we had in store but the record from 4 months ago where different from what he was seeing, the record shows that two baby scales were gone from the store and he needed to know who sold it.
"Hello Chineye, why are two baby scales missing in the store and I am just getting to know today?" The chair asked the admin officer who was on childbirth leave, he trusted her more and she trusted me with the record. "Ask Fash" was all she said on the phone and I was called to the chairman's office.
I got to the chairman's office thinking I had done something wrong until he asked this question "Where are the two baby scales in the store?" At that point, my head became blank because I didn't know what to answer but while I was thinking in those brief seconds, I turned the table for my good.
"Sir, I haven't been allowed to take stock of the store for the last two months, but if you permit me to go to the store now and check for myself, I should be able to see what's wrong" I went to the store after I said that. I got to the store, checked all the scales then I realized the scale was complete but there was a baby scale with a different manufacturer which Magdalene must have omit.
I told the chairman and he command that I return back to where I was before and the stock again be given back to me. Few days after, Mrs Chineye returned back to the office and everything returned to the way it was, i guess I can say “the table has turned”
