When nearly half a million fans packed Wisconsin Avenue for the CXXII MLB World Series champions' victory parade, it wasn't the first time Milwaukee witnessed a massive baseball blowout. Back in 1982, despite dropping the Fall Classic to the Cardinals in St. Louis, the city still gave them a heroes' welcome with a parade that drew 750,000 die-hards, basically celebrating a World Series heartbreak like a world title. However, even though the franchise officially grabbed its first-ever crown this 2026 season, the old Milwaukee Braves—who packed up for Atlanta in 1958—did take home the 1957 pennant. So, counting yesterday's bash, the city has actually seen three baseball parades, completely busting the myth of this being the town's only baseball title. Sure, yesterday's felt like the only true organic one, especially with all the raw emotion captured live on the local WITI broadcast via streaming feed.

Once the parade wrapped up, a massive stage was set for the team speeches. First up to mic was the mastermind behind the roster, skipper Pat Murphy. Without his elite management of all that young talent, this world title wouldn't have been possible; he injected that aggressive, high-energy Caribbean-style baseball right into the team's DNA, leaving opponents completely suffocated trying to stop the Brew Crew machinery. Then it was time for the team owner and the President of Baseball Operations, who both got visibly choked up talking about the core values that carried them to this moment. Right after, the legendary 1982 Hall of Fame trio of Robin Yount, Paul Molitor (who was openly weeping), and Rollie Fingers took the stage to show love and thank the championship squad for their incredible run. But do you know who the first two everyday players to speak were? None other than the Venezuelan backstop and World Series MVP William Contreras, followed by Maracaibo's outfielder Jackson Chourio, which speaks volumes about their superstar status in that clubhouse.

Both were locks for the 2026 All-Postseason Team. William raked at a .373 clip with a monster 1.036 OPS, putting up multi-hit games in six different contests, gunning down 6 baserunners trying to swipe bags, and leading the club with 19 knocks overall; plus, he was an absolute cheat code with the automated strike zone, going a mind-blowing 22-for-33 on ABS challenges, flipping calls to hand his pitching staff 7 extra strikeouts. Jackson Chourio, meanwhile, became the youngest ballplayer to drop a four-hit game in the Fall Classic since Joe Garagiola in 1946 (Game 3), while his 10 hits between Games 1 and 4 marked the most for any batter in the first four games of a World Series since Babe Ruth. He collected 17 total hits throughout October, but the one forever etched in history will be his clutch knock off Miller and the Padres for a walk-off victory in Game 2 of the NLCS. Both were massive x-factors in securing the pennant and, alongside reliever Antonio Senzatela, cemented themselves as the first Latino players in baseball history to win the WBC (with Venezuela) and a World Series ring (with the Brewers) in the exact same calendar year.

Both guys also ranked high in the vote for the top postseason moments of October. For Contreras, it was sparkplugging that late-inning pitching meltdown in Game 3 of the World Series, where he beat out a two-out infield single to Junior Caminero that should’ve ended the frame. The replay challenge showed he explicitly beat the throw with his foot on the second bag, leaving everyone safe to load the bases; right after that, a barrage of 7 consecutive knocks brought home 8 runs to completely bury Tampa Bay's hopes. As for Chourio, his defining moment was that epic battle at the dish against the absolute best shutdown closer in the game today, delivering the walk-off thriller mentioned above. It was a historic season where so many pieces perfectly clicked for a more than well-deserved title. Figuring out how to keep this core roster intact despite their small-market realities will be the exact front-office headache keeping the brass awake during the upcoming hot stove winter nights. So be it.
