The story of this achievement begins in a parking lot. I had started the car's engine in order to drive home, after having picked up our recently renewed passport. It was February 2023 when my cell phone rang as I was leaving the lot and like any sensible driver, I stopped the car to answer @arlettemsalase, who wanted to ask if I had my valid passport. At the time, she had already contacted two other hivers to accompany her to an event in Peru in the middle of that year, but they did not have valid passports. Venezuelans need a visa to enter Peru and this had to be done in advance. BlockchainCon Latam 2023 was approaching and Arlette could not wait for the fate of the country's bureaucratic apparatus. She saved herself some headaches and contacted me. I don't know, but you really have to start connecting the dots. She could have traveled with someone else, but I was the only one she contacted up to that moment, the one who had everything in place.
Our plane took off from Maiquetía, Venezuela to Panama (first) with final destination in Lima, Peru. After meeting the previous morning with the local hivers who would help us with the logistics and attention of the stand where HIVE was a sponsor, the only thing missing was the talk about our ecosystem, a responsibility assigned to Arlette who fell ill with a powerful flu virus. The night before the talk she leaned on this server and told us: “Marco, I will not be able to give the talk in these conditions, you will have to assume the representation of the chain” And so fate put us in the way of a stage with more than 900 attendees, with a minimum capacity for 2,000 people just hours before such a responsibility. It was intimidating, but we drew on our previous experience of addressing sales forces and everything went very well.
Among those attending the talk was Fernando Quirós, editor-in-chief for Latin America of the Spanish-language CoinTelegraph, who asked us to give an interview to the digital press. He would call one of his editors in Venezuela, who would be in charge of asking the pertinent questions. We met again at the Cripto Latin Fest of Colombia 2023 and we only talked on that occasion. In November 2024 we were invited to attend the LABITCONF event in Argentina, but this time we would not be sponsors. Even so, I never stopped contacting Andrés Tejero (Crypto Tendencia) or Fernando Quirós (CoinTelegraph). I incidentally extended (Destination?) our stay in Argentina and we found out through the networks about the proximity of the MERGE Buenos Aires event. It was not in the plans of @valueplan to sponsor this event, but our intuition spoke to us and told us “it is a golden opportunity for HIVE" That said, on OUR OWN initiative, we decided to buy the event ticket and attend.
The rest was history. Previous contacts at other events led us to the final meeting. Two business lunches, continuous networking and a couple of offers. I already told you about the first one here and about the second one, we are making this official announcement. Gentlemen members of our beautiful hive, we have been chosen as guest author for the digital media CoinTelegraph in Spanish and our first collaboration has been this one. We have editorial freedom to deal with the topics we want, without incurring in the promotion of HIVE events. That is, we will be able to tell the news of key relevance originated within our blockchain, leaving aside one of the main sources of income for the media (advertising fees for event promotion). However, we believe without fear of contradiction that we can have a win-win relationship with this partnership. Our articles there will be ad-hoc (precisely because I am a guest author).
