The wait is finally over! The former Seattle Pilots completely changed course for Wisconsin and landed in Milwaukee in 1968, rebranding as the Brewers, and now, 58 years later, they have captured their first-world championship in franchise history by clinching the 122nd World Series at Tropicana Field in Tampa. Their lone loss against Tampa Bay was a total dogfight, as they absolutely taxed the Rays' bullpen and caused a major pitching crisis that forced them to run out their ace Drew Rasmussen on just three days' rest. And while he gave them a gritty performance with four solid frames of one-run ball, the Rays couldn't put the clamps on what followed, with the Brewers executing their definitive 2026 blueprint: shutting opponents down with nasty pitching, lockdown defense, and a situational, small-ball offense that chipped away like an unstoppable leak. It all boils down to that icy, stone-faced look at the camera in the third slide of this post, where skipper Pat Murphy seems to be saying, "You see that? That's how it's done!"

And we find in the Brewers' skipper, with his easygoing, jokey style and deep respect for the game, the main reason for balancing a young dugout of rising stars who are starting to pave a long road toward what looks like a dynasty. Of course, that's assuming this small-market ballclub can manage to keep all that talent together, through extensions for guys who are worth a whole lot more in free agency but might want to take a hometown discount for rings. And who took home World Series MVP honors? A Venezuelan backstop named William Contreras, who became a high-energy catalyst driving his teammates with a .381 average, while also acting as a field general guiding that lights-out Brew Crew bullpen, which posted the second-lowest ERA (1.38) in Fall Classic history for an arm farm with at least 50 innings pitched, holding opponents to a measly .173 batting average against. How do you even buy a hit against dominance like that?

The Brewers became just the 3rd team in MLB history to surrender fewer than four runs in every single one of the 13 postseason games that led them to a title, joining the 1990 Reds and the 1983 Orioles. With that kind of dominance on the bump, it’s easy to see why the Rays' offense had such a brutal time driving runs home. Jacob Misiorowski didn’t have a big strikeout night with just a pair of punchouts, but he scattered a mere two hits over 5.2 scoreless frames to set the tone for the Game 5 victory. He left the bump due to calf cramps and walked off to an absolute curtain call of an ovation, which is crazy considering they were playing at The Trop. That was another huge storyline, as it looked like half of Wisconsin packed their bags and flew down to Florida to watch their Brew Crew take the crown, making them feel like the home team the entire time. That speaks volumes about a fanbase that was starving to see their boys finally win it all.

Venezuelans Jackson Chourio, William Contreras, and Antonio Senzatela became just the second trio of teammates to lock up a World Baseball Classic title and a World Series ring in the exact same calendar year, joining Alex Bregman and Luke Gregerson who pulled off the feat with Team USA and the Astros back in 2017. Contreras also cements his name in history as only the third Venezuelan to take home World Series MVP honors, following in the footsteps of Pablo "Kung Fu Panda" Sandoval with the Giants in 2012 and Salvador Perez with the Royals in 2015. For yours truly, it has been an absolute privilege to dedicate our blog to breaking down and analyzing this newly minted season. All that's left on the table now are the end-of-the-year awards and the heavy uncertainty surrounding the currently up-in-the-air 2027 season, courtesy of the impending owner lockout set to trigger on December 1st. What this Fall Classic ultimately proved completely shreds the owners' main talking point, since both ballclubs fighting for the pennant boasted some of the lowest payrolls in the big leagues. Here's hoping the game we love prevails because that's exactly how it should be.
