In addition to our monthly engagement and promotion contests, we’re introducing a brand new subset of the contest specifically for Threads. The crux of this challenge involves using the #freecompliments tag. Our goal is not only to increase awareness of the FreeCompliments Community, but also to incentivize quality, positive engagements within Threads so that it becomes an even more welcoming and friendly place for all!
The Contest!
The contest is open to anyone on Hive. It consists of providing the most quality threads using the #freecompliments tag. Threads which use the tag but are completely irrelevant to the tag will not count towards this contest (of note, we still curate all tagged threads with a minimum 1% vote at this time).
Some current and past examples of excellent quality threads using the tag are @joseal2020’s daily threads with original motivational quotes, as well as @meraki7578’s threads with different life lessons and shared wisdom. Combining quantity of such threads with this type of quality greatly increases the odds of winning.
Thus, this contest will be based on a combination of quantity and quality.
However, there are a few more conditions to win, and we’re going to spice up the prizes based on how well the tag is trending…
In order for someone to win this contest, the #freecompliments tag must remain trending on the InLeo UI for the entire month, plus consistently meet a certain number of listed tags. This means that it must remain within the top 3 tags for the whole month and maintain a minimum number of tags. If it falls out, then nobody wins this particular contest for that month (but will still be eligible for all the other rewards that we give out related to the tag and engagement). Additionally, prizes will only be given out if the vast majority of engagement is quality engagement, rather than spamming the tag.
What are the prizes?
Here’s how we’re going to organize the prizes:
If the tag remains within the top 3 for the entire month, then the top engager will win a 1 month Leo Premium subscription.
If the tag remains within the top 2 for the entire month and there are at least 50 tags, then the top engager will win 2 months of Leo Premium subscriptions, and the 2nd top engager will win a 1 month Leo Premium subscription.
If the tag remains as the #1 tag for the entire month, and there are at least 100 tags, then the top engager will win 3 months of Leo Premium subscriptions, the 2nd top engager will win 2 months of Leo Premium subscriptions, and the 3rd top engager will win a 1 month Leo Premium subscription.
Those are some pretty hefty prizes! Now, in order to achieve the #1 spot, it’s pertinent to work together to ensure that quality remains high. Feel free to compliment each other’s work along the way as well.
What type of engagement will count?
There are many ways that this can play out.
Using parent threads with the tag is the easiest way to get the tag’s count up in the tag rankings on the InLeo UI. Using the tag with motivational content, discussions of compliments, tagging people with a compliment, positivity, mental health initiatives, etc. are all relevant and practical uses of the tag, and I’m sure there are many others as well that I’ve missed.
Replying to threads while using the tag does not count towards the tag rankings on the InLeo UI, but we will absolutely count these as engagement! After all, leaving a genuine compliment on someone else’s thread is an ideal use of the tag.
Another use of the tag which we’ll accept is one which promotes the community and/or posts that are made within the community. For instance, if you were to write up a threadstorm about this post (with a very brief summary of 1-2 sentences), link it, and use the tag, that would certainly count as quality engagement. It’s also effort that’s highly appreciated!
Those daily threads that used to be posted by @hive-140084… you know, this type... will also count, but only up to once per week – that’s an anti-spam measure!
Conclusion
We’re offering some great prizes for quality use of the #freecompliments tag on Threads. We believe this monthly contest will increase positive engagement among many members on Threads, and possibly even lead to new connections and bonds. Go get ‘em, Lions!
