Every time I am in town, especially around the holidays, and spy bags of scented pinecones for sale for crafting, I get a bit giggly. I have $$$ on the ground around me all of the time!

Aside from burning the excess pinecones, I also tend to give them to those who craft with them, and since we had a couple thunder storm squalls this past week, the bull pines had puked pinecones all over my freshly raked and quite gorgeous lawns. So, I went I around and hand picked up a bunch of them, two feed sacks full, for my friend who is a custom wreath maker. She's pretty excited.

Where there are cones there are needles, so I also bagged up a bunch of pine needles this afternoon for @scribblingramma as she usually gets some every year for mulching purposes. Yesterday, I unexpectedly didn't have to drive the boy to work as he came down with what I suspect is a mild stomach bug. So I hopped on my mower and vacuumed up more than a dozen loads of pine needles, cones, and sticks. The yard looks amazing, green, and all carpet-like.

Well it did, the insolent trees have deposited more cones already. It's only been like an hour since I finished cone patrol.

Now that I have done the Big Cone Roundup though, I tend to just mow over any cones that dares to drop on my yard. I love the whirl of my lawnmower's mulching blades, those cones don't stand a chance!

I then moved on to another long overdue chore, potting on the snapdragons and strawflowers. In fact, after starting and finishing up school early this morning, I got the cones and needles bagged, the garlic field fertilized with fish and kelp emulsion, and potted on all of my remaining flowers.

I might be a little tired. So much so that I am going to finish fixing dinner for the convalescing boy and my hubs and go crash. It's been a very people-y weekend, and as much as I love everyone, my energy meter is a bit on the depleted side, and until July 8th, I have a melee of events, obligations, and all out life happenings galore.

I am not sad about it, I just need a bit of a rest and reprieve this afternoon.

So, I am going to finish this Monday homesteading chores missive, and The Void, The Corg, and I are going to go recline and take in some Poirot or Miss Marple and most likely a siesta.

YAY!

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's currently lightly encrusted in compost and barely scented in pine iPhone.
