While thinking about one of the Hive Ghana Prompt for this week, it crossed my mind that many Hive members who have come across my post several times can easily tell what my choice would be regarding preparing my meal or eating out when I am very hungry.

I have seen a few entries and respect people's choices between preparing meals and buying cooked food. Everyone has a reason for their choices and we can't blame anyone for doing what they think is right for them.

Being a foodie and certified food lover who loves to always try new recipes, I prefer to make my food no matter how hungry I am and this doesn't make me better than those who love to eat out.

My first shot at cooking a meal without supervision ended as a disaster and I didn't see the need to try again immediately until my mom fell ill. It was a phase of my life when I and my sibling suffered because I couldn't make any food. We took food stuff as instructed by my mom to a family friend to help us cook and we barely ate 15% of the food we took there.

Everything that happened then prompted me to learn how to cook after mom recovered from the illness and it became part of me. At first, it started as a show-off but as I grew older, I realised that I was passionate about cooking. I took over the kitchen and have been preparing my meals for years now decades.

I enjoy cooking my meals and somehow, I develop a connection with my food while cooking and this boosts the satisfaction that comes with the meal after eating. Aside from the satisfaction, there are some reasons why I choose to make my food by myself.

Eating isn't just about filling the belly with food, it includes maintaining a healthy living because the food we eat has a lot to do with our physical and mental health.
I have seen a lot of blunders many food vendors commit and it's no new thing to me that many of them are just after making a profit. Their hygiene is zero but the look of their food is always mesmerizing, it's always looks and tastes great but wouldn't do any good to the body system.

Hygiene is something I take seriously and since I have trust issues especially with food, it's better to make my meals.

As a minimalist who practices living on less, cooking my meals is one of the ways to save money because it costs more to eat on the street. Sometimes ago, I visited a friend and he insisted that eat out. I didn't say no because there was no time and he had been bragging about a food vendor in his neighborhood so I was eager to see the place.

A scoop of fried rice cost 600 which wouldn't have any effect on me and I haven't even considered their chicken. After checking the price of everything they sold there, I settled with a can of my favourite drink because it was pointless spending that much on just one meal.

In this current economy, eating out would only eat deep in anyone's purse so it is best to save money by cooking your meals. A lot of people tag cooking as a stressful chore but it isn't to me and I have helped myself in many ways by making my food myself. To save more money, I shop my foodstuff from the local market where I can get my things fresh and it's even better than always coming food items packed with preservatives.

It all comes down to staying healthy and managing my resources when it comes to eating, this still doesn't mean I won't eat nourished meals.

I would love to use this post as an entry to the Marchinleo prompt as well. Every day, there is a topic waiting for everyone interested and to learn more about the prompts, visit the post below.
