Happy New Month dear Hivers and my fellow creative needleworkers, I hope you are all having a great week going, getting inspired, starting, or putting the finishing touches to your projects, well, for me I just put the finishing touches on this unique and beautiful outfit I made my neighbor.

I've only been in this new neighborhood for two months now, and never really had the time to familiarize myself with my new neighbors as I'm usually indoors, the truth is I typically shy away but I know it wouldn't be for too long as my designs which I usually display outside is sure to captivate them, it has always been what brings me closer to people.

I was taking the much-needed weekend rest after returning from church on Sunday, when I heard a faint knock on my door, opening it, there I saw this unfamiliar but very beautiful face, a woman whom I assume would be in her early 40s, she introduced herself as a neighbor who lives in about 2 compounds away from mine and has always admired the designs I display outdoor, I welcome her in with a smile, she was holding a fabric wrapped in a transparent nylon, I deduced she wanted me to make her a dress.

We got talking, and she told me about her forthcoming 50th birthday in May, how I love it when people celebrate their birthday, and how making a dress for a 50-year-old woman is my honor, I couldn't help but compliment how young she looked at 50, and assured her to design something elegant and classy for her, even though this will be the first time making her dress, she had full confidence in me.

I collected the fabric, and took her full body measurement, getting ready to start the week and bringing a beautiful design to life.

  • I started by drafting the pattern on paper before transferring it to the fabric, I used a bustier pattern and also drafted and transferred the back pattern as well

  • Next, I padded the bust area, joined the pattern pieced together, then I cut out the asymmetric neckline, and also trimmed out the asymmetric hemline

  • Next, I turned the main fabric with the lining fabric after adding the dutchess fabric around the front asymmetric neckline and also replaced the cutout sleeve on one side.

  • For the sleeves, I used a lace fabric to cut out a long-length basic sleeve which I sewed around both armhole

  • I proceeded to fix the zipper at the back of the blouse

  • Finishing the blouse, I beaded the black Duchess area, giving it a glittering effect. I also gummed appliqué around the hemline

  • You will sure agree with me that this beautiful blouse can be paired with both a pant or a skirt, but she requested a skirt so she could wear it to church, So I made a straight skirt pattern with the remaining fabric, turned it with its lining pattern and fixed a waistband, completing her outfit.

The final look is stunning, I'm sure she will love her new birthday outfit, looking forward to her fitting session this afternoon.
