Hello Hive!
I hope you are all having the best weekend, either relaxing after the week's stress or outside to have some fun, either way, make sure to do what makes you happy.

It's a bright sunny day today, and I woke up feeling energized and ready to fulfill the promise I made a birthday girl last month, I bet she thought I forgot since I haven't reached out to her since then, silver and gold I don't have but what I have is my talent and passion for sewing which makes it easy for me to reach out in my own little way to everyone around me, both family, friends, and neighbors. When any of them has a birthday, especially the ladies, they know a birthday dress gift must come through from me.

But it's been two weeks after her birthday, my sister would have probably thought I forgot her birthday dress, but no, my workload has been so tight that I couldn't meet up to make the dress as early as I should have, and tomorrow being the first Sunday of the month where everyone likes looking good to church, I made sure that I cleared out my work for the week so I can meet up making her a beautiful birthday dress and also be at peace for fulfilling my promise, it was"t after I finished making the dress that I put a call across to her, she was super excited that I hadn't forgotten and had her in mind all along, so I'm here waiting for her to come fit her birthday present.

I once made the same style for my neighbor's daughter and saw how she admired the dress on her, then I knew what style to make for her as well,

Materials used are;
- Ankara fabric
- Green Duchess fabric
- Lining
- Zipper
Cutting and Sewing Process

- I started by drafting the bodice pattern, the upper part of the dress was drafted using a bustier pattern, while the lower part of the dress has a Basque shape, stopping at the hip area.

-
The back is a basic back pattern, and also has the Basque shape

-
Next, I joined the pattern pieces together, look how contoured the bust area is, that's the advantage of using a bustier pattern, I also made sure to pad the wrong side of the bust area for that effect.

-
Continuing, I joined the upper side to the lower part of the dress after turning each with its lining piece

-
I also repeated the same at the back and sewed in a zipper.
-
Then I joined both the front and back by the sides and shoulders

- Moving on, I measured around the hem basque area, then multiplied the measurement I got by 2 to get the width of the remaining length of the dress, this time using the ankara fabric

-
I gathered and sewed the ankara around the hem.

-
Next is the sleeves, I drafted a puff sleeve, joined and hemmed it to create an elastic case, where I passed the elastic to gather the hen area, and then I pleated it around the armhole of the dress.

And here is the final look, I'm sure my sister, the birthday girl will look very pretty in her dress, and love it as well. I'm happy I finally fulfill this promise.
