Hello Hive
I hope you are all doing great wherever you are, it's always exciting for me to share with you my latest sewing project, lest I forget, Happy Children's Day to amazing children all over the world as yesterday was specially made to celebrate them.

For my project today, I made a white colored ruffle dress with batwings for a teenage friend in celebration of the children's day, as children were all asked to dress in white attire in celebration of them.

She reached out to me about wanting a big girl style, I don't know what is it with teenagers and wanting to be adults real fast, as they always want to look grown up, since I was once a teenager, I knew exactly how she felt and suggested different modest and chic styles for her, which she finally settled for this beautiful batwing sleeve ruffle dress with snatched waist effect, as she imagined how it will look on her, I assured her of it fitting her perfectly.

Making this dress took me the whole day though as I had other in-between-mum activities I couldn't ignore and had to take care of while working and making this dress also needed full concentration, somehow I managed multitasking and was glad it gave the expected result.
If you wish to make same dress, consider using lightweight fabric, not so light though as it gives more perfect results, especially around the ruffled area.

Cutting And Sewing Process

- I started by drafting the bodice base of the dress from the chest line to the hip area for both front and back, the front has one pattern piece,

While the back has two patterns because I will be sewing a zipper to close it up.

-
Using their lining pattern pieces, I turned them neatly in
-
Then joined their sides by the seam allowance left.

- Next, I cut out the batting sleeves pattern,

-
joined them by the shoulder area, and went further to make a case for loop, this will help give it a ruffle effect by the shoulder area

-
I marked the under-bust area of the dress, and gathered the hem of the sleeves before joining them to the marked area, I made the front sleeves overlap each other while the two sleeves at the back stop where the zipper starts.
-
Moving on, I cut out a straight length of the crepe fabric to complete the length of the dress, the width was determined by multiplying the hip measurement by 3, then gathering it back to the original hem measurement before sewing it around the hem of the bodice.
-
I folded the hem of the gathered part and that completes the making of this beautiful chic dress.

She was overjoyed just seeing her dress on my mannequin when she came for fitting, and even more happy after fitting because it fitted her perfectly, making her look beautiful and confident for the children's day event.
