I know what you are thinking, you are probably wondering how this size 8 shift shirt dress is possibly going to fit all sizes, ha! No that's not what I mean, it's good to try a get your attention though lol, now, here is the gist, have you ever found yourself being restricted in how and where you can wear some of your favorite dresses, how does that make you feel? Suppressing, isn't it, yea I know because I also get that feeling all the time,

Who set the rules that we have to strictly follow certain dressing rules in certain places, I recently got a contract job in a formal setting/establishment, and as expected, a dressing rule came up that I am not so used to, I love corporate outfits no doubt, but I feel there should always be a point where both casual and formal outfits can have a balance in one dress, imagine, going to the office and you eventually have a casual meet up with friends right after work, you don't always have to rush home to get changed all the time, and that was what bore the idea of making this elegant shift shirt dress, one dress, but can easily be switched to even al occasion, as a formal outfit at the office,

The white colored collar and cuff gave it grace, how won't I mention the burst of colors on the fabric, making it easily blend as a more relaxed casual outfit, so you see, one dress style fits all, at least almost all occasion, I can definitely see my self putting on this dress to places more than the office. and the more amazing part is how easy and fun it was making this dress, of course, I will be sharing the making process with us, I hope you get inspired too.

Material used

• Colourful and plain white fabric
  Button

• I started with drafting and citing out the dress pattern, which is a form of kimono/cut together sleeves, bit stops at the bicep, the front has two pieces while the back was cut on fold so one piece.

• I joined both front and back by their shoulders
  

• The next process was cutting the collar pattern, also the sleeve elongation, which I sewed around the neck and bicep respectively

• continuing, I joined the front and back dress by the sides

• The cuff sleeves button and button holes were the finishing touches, also hemming the dress neatly.
