Happy New Week, dear lovely creators on Hive, I hope we are already having a good day going as we usher in another beautiful and fulfilling week. Thankfully, the weather has been cool and bright so far, taking a break from the rain these past few days, I love the rain, no doubt but the challenge face when it rains is that I have no choice but to stay indoors even on days when I have to go fabric shopping, glad I was able to fulfill that today.

I will be sharing with us the beautiful dress I made for Iyanu, a teenage friend of mine, she clocks 16 today and also just completed her secondary school education. While awaiting her result to gain admission into the university, she chooses to learn how to sew rather than lazying at home.

She's been a good student so far, learning the basics of drafting, cutting, and making simple dresses. The recent project I taught her was making this dress. I was once like her and know how happy I get whenever I learned a new style, particularly when it's going to be my dress, it drives our motivation and makes the learning more fun.

I recently made the same style for myself and she want the same too, it's a ruffled dress with overlap at the front of the dress, it is also runched along the sleeve joining.

Materials used

• Soft crepe fabric

Cutting And Sewing Process

• The first process was cutting the bodice pattern, starting from the underbust to the hip area

• Next, I cut out the upper kimono side, which stops at the underbust this time. I turned the middle edge using bias and hemmed the sleeve

• Moving on, I joined the upper side by the shoulders and created a case where I passed the loops

• Continuing, I joined the upper side of the dress to the underbust bodice part, overlapping the front,

And I added a zipper to the back of the dress.

• To complete the length of the dress, I cut out this long-length fabric, and the width was obtained by multiplying the upper hip circumference by 3, then I gathered and joined it to the upper side of the dress and also hemmed it neatly.

And that completes the making process of Iyanu's dress, so beautiful, she loves her new dress and can't wait to recreate another for her sister to show she understands this making process. I'm also looking forward to seeing how she recreates hers.
