Hello dear creative friends on Hive, I hope you all had a great week as we look forward to another relaxing and rejuvenating weekend.

Today, I will be sharing with us an urgent sewing project I had to make in a hurry this morning, and it's also my first time making a school uniform.

My sister had called me about her son, my nephew who refused to go to school because of his torn uniform short, which had become overly torn beyond repair, well, all due to his excess play at school, and now his mum was faced with the challenge of getting him a new one, and with the way the current economy is, it's kind of a challenge for her to get a new complete set of uniforms which includes two shirts and a short as their school don't sell shorts alone.
She asked if I could propose a solution to the situation, so I reached out to a fellow seamstress who works for the school where he attends since she lives close to my house and asked if I could buy the materials from her urgently, and she gladly offered to sell it at a discounted rate, saving us the stress of getting the complete uniform, as his shirts were still in good shape.
We got the material very late, yesterday, and still, I had to work on it so he doesn't stay out of school today, as he was already whining about how his classmates made jest of him the previous day, I told him not to worry, that Aunty Glory will sort it out for him.

Cutting And Sewing Process

-
The fabric used to achieve the short, measured about 22 inches, as it wasn't up to a yard, first, I drafted and cut out the front pattern of the short.

- Using the front pattern, I draft and cut out the back pattern, making it two inches wider than the front

-
Continuing, I joined the short by the crotch area for both the front and back.

-
Next, I cut the pocket patterns, then proceeded to sew the sides of the short and also attached the pocket pattern to the upper sides.

-
Moving on, I hemmed the base of the short

-
The waist of the shorts at this point measures the same as the week, so I reduced it back to my nephew's waist using the elastic band at the back side, but first, I created a case/band around the waist before passing it in.

That completes the making process of this uniform short, his mum felt relieved as it was already dark when I finished making the short, so they had to stay for the night, and the next morning he was more than happy to go to school in his new short, not feeling bad about being made jest of in school.
DIY saves the day, and everyone us happy now.
