Happy New Week Hive and fellow Needleworkers, wishing everyone an amazing week ahead.

Still, in the spirit of the Muslim holiday, I've had my hands very busy since last week making beautiful dresses for my Muslim friends and I've shared some of the projects here on Hive. One of the dresses that stood out for me is this basque ruffle dress with short sleeves.

My friend had visited me over the previous week with this ankara fabric gifted to her by her mother-in-law, she mentioned that she would be visiting her during this holiday period, and she asked that I make her a pretty dress that would make her feel confident, also something her mother in law would love as well. But she didn't want the signature A-line dresses that Muslim ladies love to wear, as that was what I thought she would be making.

She prefers a chic and modest dress and after showing her some of my previous designs catalog, she immediately fell in love with this basque-waisted ruffle dress design. However, she requested one small difference, she preferred hers to be short-sleeved instead of the original sleeveless style.
It was my pleasure to bring the design to life for her knowing it would fit her stature perfectly, as this is another thing I look out for whenever someone picks a style, I have to make sure it fits their body shape, and on cases, it wouldn't I urge them to pick something else that would be more fitting.
Materials Used
-
Ankara fabric
-
Lining fabric
-
Zipper
-
Matching colored thread.
Cutting And Sewing Process

-
I didn't have a pattern paper so I had no other option than to draft directly on the fabric, a bustier pattern for the upper side of the dress

- Then I proceeded to cut out the drafted pattern.

-
I drafted and cut out the lower part of the dress shaping out the waist and hip measurement and also the basque cut

-
Continuing, I joined the upper pattern pieces together and turned them with their lining part

-
Next, I joined the upper side of the dress to the lower part of the dress
-
I continued by cutting out the fabric that completes the length of the skirt,

-
I first gathered this long-length fabric before sewing it around the hem of the dress.
-
I also sewed a zipper to join the back side of the dress.

-
And finally, I drafted and cut out the short sleeve pattern, which I joined around both armholes of the dress.

And here is the beautiful final look. She absolutely likes her new dress as it fits perfectly, she sent feedback that her mother-in-law liked it as well, which gives me much joy.
