I most times choose to be skeptical about things or occurrences that seem metaphysical or beyond human comprehension or understanding, without any form of scientifically proven evidence to back up such occurrences, but also as a Christian bound by faith, we have no choice but to believe and most times without evidence, as confusing as this sounds.
The issue of Reincarnation is one of those topics, Some cultures and religions believe in, the death and return of the same person through another or the same family, though I haven't had a personal experience, but I've heard and watched stories of people who supposedly experienced reincarnation.
One striking story I watched online was about how a five-year-old born in a country could speak the language of another country, according to her was the previous country she was born, and she remembered her former life, and couldn't stop talking about her former family, how she missed her husband and children, according to the story, after much persuasion, she was taken to the country and area she always talked about, and she walked them down to the front of her former house, and as she has always said, the woman in the picture passed away the same way she had described, and her family memberrrrs she always talked about, her husband and children had same names, it was thrilling watching such story unfold, although some argue that she was possessed with familiar spirit, rather than being reincarnated.
There is much belief in reincarnation in this part of the world as well, the reason you would often find Yoruba names like 'Iyabo' and 'Babatunde' meaning 'mother has returned' and 'father has returned', often times parents give their children such names when they recently lose either of their parents prior to the birth of their child, rather than put it on reincarnation, I chose to believe they use reincarnation as a way of comforting themselves after such lose, rather than keep on grieving, they believe their deceased loved one has come back to live with and comfort them.
Do you know that reincarnation was also believed to happen during the Bible times, the prophet Elisha was said to be reincarnated to John the Baptist, I'm not sure how things were done those days to determine those who reincarnated, but according to my mum, during their time, when people lose their loved ones especially children, they usually put marking on their body as a means of identifying them when they returned and as shocking as it sounds, the reincarnated babies are also born with same markings as birthmark on their skin.
There is also a belief by some culture over here that anyone born with birthmarks must have lived in this world before and only returned, the movie industry also keeps pushing this theory on us but as I stated, they are not yet proven scientifically, we can only chose to believe or not.
Reincarnation is an interesting topic to want to know more no doubt, but the little we know doesn't justify I it's real or not, until then, we will remain on the middle line.
