Happy New Week dear friends on Hive, wishing everyone an amazing week ahead, it's another exciting needlework day, can't wait to read about all your creative projects, as I also will be sharing mine.

I believe there are certain colors of clothing we should have in our wardrobe in case an occasion calls for it, colors like white, black, blue, etc It is very common over here to have a color-themed party, especially when there isn't a uniform fabric known as 'aso-ebi' sold to the attendees. To still maintain that uniform look that makes the occasion stand out, adorning the same color of clothing helps with that.

My mum had such an occasion to attend but didn't have the right white outfit that fit the occasion, it was more of a traditional coronation event, and there was no way she could turn down the invite, it is even an honor to be invited to such occasion

So she reached out to me with confidence trusting me to make an outfit that fit the occasion, but according to her, she didn't want to tie a wrapper which would have been her go-to outfit before, mothers these days have found a way to infuse the modern and traditional culture into an outfit to make it stand out. Still, I knew I had to make a blouse and skirt for her, so she could still rock the blouse with a wrapper on days she feels like it.

The materials used in making this outfit is known as brocade, it had a touch of intricate silver design which gives it more sophistication, toning the plain white a bit. After much thought, we finally went for a puffy-sleeve blouse design with a sweetheart neckline

Materials used

  • Brocade fabric

  • Satin fabric

  • matching thread

  • crystal beads

Cutting And Sewing Process

  • I started by drafting the blouse pattern, using a bustier pattern for the front and basic back pattern

  • It was cut like an off-the-shoulder blouse, but I added a strap to cover the edge of the shoulder, also joined the pattern pieces, and turned it using their satin pattern which served as the lining.

  • Next, I joined the front and back by the shoulders and sides

  • For the sleeves, I used a leg of mutton pattern, which is basically drafting a normal basic sleeve with three-quarter length and slashing and spreading the pattern before cutting on fabric. I also turned and joined the sleeves to both armholes of the blouse.

  • then finally, I cut out the straight skirt pattern with the fabric left, turned it with the satin lining as well, and sewed it by both sides.

  • To add extra details to the blouse, I beaded the sweetheart neckline and also scattered the beads on the bust area, I went for silver beads, and it added that extra luxury touch to this outfit.

Here is the beautiful final look, I love the outcome, my mum likes her new dress as well now and looking forward to the coronation event this weekend.
