You’ve likely heard – Pinmapple is dead, long live Worldmappin! Yes, the most popular travel dApp on the Hive Blockchain will be shut down within days, if not hours. However, the community has once again proven its resilience. Hats to the Pinmapple team and every author who contributed to the astonishing 110,000+ pins since its launch in 2017! Let’s hope @Worldmappin will take over with the same enthusiasm that the Pinmapple team exhibited, ushering in a new era of travel blogging on Hive.

Speaking of travel blogging, have you shared your travels? Once you archive your memories on the blockchain, they’ll never vanish. I’ve done this with vacations from the past few years and short weekend trips. You can browse my stories from exploring Malta and Cyprus, “beach officing” in Croatia, multiple travels across Spain, roaming the Czech Republic and its neighboring countries, or ski trips to Italy and Austria (which don’t quite fit under the summer memory label, but that’s not really an issue, is it?). The posts are also accessible through Travel Feed, another great tool to back up your Pinmapple pins and posts. Sharing is caring, and sharing travel memories pays off – my best travel posts have collected $100+ in rewards. A handful of such posts can cover your travel costs.
Upcoming Summer Memories
The summer is about to start, and if you’re up for creating life-long memories, you can kick it off with the 13th Hive Meetup in Aachen, Germany. There’s a catch – Aachen does not have an international airport, so the best option is to fly to Düsseldorf and take a direct train from the airport to Aachen. However, there will be folks from all around the globe, and meeting renowned Hiveans is always worth a bit of effort.
Then there’s the entire summer to spend on the road. In my case, it’s either the Balkans or the Baltics with my girlfriend – we’d love to roam those regions a bit, perhaps meeting friends living here and there. We plan to explore one of these regions for a week or two. Then, if everything goes well, we’ll head to Brazil, but that wouldn’t really be a summer experience (that particular part of Brazil (Belén) only has two seasons – dry and wet). Besides, this trip may happen next January or February.
Let’s stick with this summer, though. There’s another Hive event you shouldn’t miss if there’s a reasonable connection – Hive Fest in Split, Croatia. I visited Croatia years ago as a kid and then again last year around this time. And I’m definitely coming back in September – Hive Fest is going to be huge. Fancy a boat cruise across the Adriatic Sea with hundreds of islands and islets? I do! Besides, off-season Croatia is quite an affordable place to visit, and several great Worldmappin posts can easily cover a good portion of your total costs.

And that's not only for posts from Hive Fest. Take a road trip across the neighboring countries, seize the day backpacking in secluded mountains, or treat yourself to remote working from a tropical paradise off-season when the prices drop and the flights are a bargain. There are countless options for anyone willing to make the most of Hive. When traveling, don’t miss the Around the World challenge by @bucipuci, and remember to Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun – these two weekly contests, and perhaps similar ones I am not aware of, would make your travels even more fun.
