No one can deny the power of Bitcoin (BTC) in the crypto world. It is the first coin that we hear from outside from people who aren't used to the crypto world. I hear people from outside calling crypto investors "bitcoiners" sometimes even as pejorative . Bitcoin is considered by us people who believe in crypto as the king of cryptocurrencies . Some people who are investing in crypto sometimes only stay with BTC for this reason. They won't buy Hive or another altcoin because they think that BTC is the only crypto that is going to keep growing. So we can't deny that BTC is at the center of all crypto things. I regularly buy BTC, As I mentioned in a post, BTC for me here in Canada is also the best entrance of fiat to the crypto world through Shakepay. So I buy regularly some dollars of crypto in BTC and then I move these BTCs around. However, I still have some BTC. I am not an active trader, so I have more of a holder personality.

For me, I learned that many tokens that don't provide me an APR aren't very lucrative. Ok, they can raise their price and in the future, something that I bought for 1$ will be valued 10$ or 100$. It is possible, but probably it takes time for that. But still, I am not getting anything in the short or medium term. That's why in my investment portfolio I gave preferences to coins that are Proof of Stake . Sometimes a token doesn't have an attractive APR for staking but still has a DeFi in its blockchain that contains interesting Liquidity Pools which some tokens can be farmed by an attractive APR. BTC is a proof of work token so it can't be stake, that was something that bothered me for a while, because I would I hold most of my crypto money in something that I will need to wait for its value to go up instead of investing in more attractive tokens that I can see growing every day despite of the market volatility?

Ouço pessoas de fora chamando investidores de criptomoedas de "bitcoiners" às vezes até mesmo de forma pejorativa. O Bitcoin é considerado por nós, pessoas que acreditamos em criptomoedas, como o rei das criptomoedas . Algumas pessoas que estão investindo em criptomoedas às vezes só ficam com BTC por esse motivo. Elas não vão comprar Hive ou outra altcoin porque acham que o BTC é a única criptomoeda que vai continuar crescendo. Então não podemos negar que o BTC está no centro de todas as coisas relacionadas a criptomoedas. I created some hope when I learned about a possible solution in the Stellar network. For those who don't know Stellar or $XLM is a blockchain network created to solve the problem of payments, with a a more speedy transfer and lower fees. Ultrastellar, a company that builds into the stellar network, built some 2nd layer tokens that correspond in 1:1 to other tokens. For example, I hold for some months some yXLM, since I had some $XLM that I got around Discord, I just saved it. When I swap to yXLM I have a APR of 4%. Just holding $XLM doesn't give me anything and there isn't any stake for this token, but swapping for yXLM gives me daily dividends. However, I learned that they have also yBTC that brings you an APR of 3.8% .

That sounds cool, right? But there is a con to that. I wanted a solution for the BTCs in my wallet to get an interest on top of it. But in this case, you can't swap BTCs for yBTCs. Stellar network doesn't have any bridge with the BTC network. What is happening is that you can swap your $XLM tokens for yBTC and these yBTCs values 1:1 to the real BTC. So if I wanted to transform my BTCs into yBTC I would have to use a swap application like SimpleSwap or a CEX to convert my BTCs to XLM to go to my Stellar wallet. In that wallet, I could swap XLM for yBTC. And to withdraw these yBTCs and convert to BTCs again I would suffer the same, so you can visualize some money spent in fees from the BTC network plus these CEXes or swaps. I discarded that solution from my mind.

Criei algumas esperanças quando soube de uma possível solução na rede Stellar. Para aqueles que não conhecem Stellar ou $XLM, é uma rede blockchain criada para resolver o problema de pagamentos, com transferências mais rápidas e taxas mais baixas. Another option that I learned in the last weeks was exploring the 2nd layer in the Bitcoin Blockchain. I heard only about it after the meme coin Pepe creation in the network that congestioned all Bitcoin networks with its transactions. However, a couple of weeks ago I read a bit more about the possibilities in the 2nd layer of BTC in this article . The article by itself only triggered me to do more research about it, if there was an alternative around to make my BTCs grow a bit more. I got interested in a token that is already listed in many CEXes, including Coinbase called Stacks. Stacks value was around $1.50 on February 7th and got one extra buck to its value since then. Stacks created a network in the BTC 2nd layer for Smart Contracts, NFTs, and DeFis. Interesting that Stacks (STX) has a stacking protocol that gives 9% APR in satoshis. But how to swap BTCs for STXs?

So I found a DeFi called Alexgo which has a swap, BTC bridge and LPs to farm tokens. I downloaded a wallet for BTC and Stacks called Xverse, you can even stack your STXs tokens but still no direct swap of BTC to STX. So I decided to check the BTC bridge at Alexgo. In a moment that I was trying to bridge $50 in BTC,I was going to bridge to aBTC, aBTC is one of the BTC equivalents in this 2nd layer network, there is aBTC which is Alex BTC (a BTC version for this specific DeFi) and also the xBTC (a wrapped BTC in the Stacks Network). Just imagine the equivalency of Hive and swap.hive in the Hive Engine. When I saw the amount of tokens expected after the bridge, I was surprised. I mostly would lose 20$ in BTC doing this bridge. I thought that I was doing something wrong and searched around. I read in a Reddit post that this was due to the high fees in the BTC network, and I used from this DeFi was saying that he prefers buying directly the tokens from a CEX, he mentioned buying the native token from the DeFi called ALEX, which is also listed in many CEXes like Kucoin. Well, I wanted to test a bit this DeFi, so what I did was use SimpleSwap to swap BTC for STX tokens (sure I lost some BTCs through the fees, but it was less compared to the bridging event). With STXs, I could swap a part through wBTC and add a bit of token to the LP STX/xBTC which had a yield of more than 100% APR at the moment that I added this LP to farm. In the LP farming you choose for how long you are going to stake these LP tokens, I decided to opt in for 8 cycles or 29 days, which gave me 108%. The more time you choose your stacking it provides the better your return APR.

Outra opção que aprendi nas últimas semanas foi explorar a segunda camada na Blockchain do Bitcoin. Ouvi falar sobre isso apenas após a criação da moeda meme Pepe na rede, que congestionou todas as redes Bitcoin com suas transações. No entanto, algumas semanas atrás, li um pouco mais sobre as possibilidades na segunda camada do BTC neste artigo . Li em um post do Reddit que isso se devia às altas taxas na rede BTC, e o usuário deste DeFi estava dizendo que prefere comprar diretamente os tokens de uma CEX, ele mencionou comprar o token nativo do DeFi chamado ALEX, que também está listado em muitas CEXes como a Kucoin. Bem, eu queria testar um pouco esse DeFi, então o que fiz foi usar o SimpleSwap para trocar BTC por tokens STX (é claro que perdi alguns BTCs através das taxas, mas foi menos em comparação com o evento de ponte). Com os STXs, pude trocar uma parte por wBTC e adicionar um pouco de token ao LP STX/xBTC, que tinha um rendimento de mais de 100% de APR no momento em que adicionei este LP para farmar. No farming de LP, você escolhe por quanto tempo vai apostar esses tokens LP, decidi optar por 8 ciclos ou 29 dias, o que me deu 108%. Quanto mais tempo você escolhe sua stack, melhor é o seu retorno de APR.

After reaching the last part of my text, I hope that you didn't create too much expectation about me finding finally the solution of a way to make my BTC tokens multiply. No, I didn't find a great solution since all of them require us to swap a token to enter into an investment that could bring you returns. The cause of that is probably all the physiology of the BTC network. The BTC network is very prone to congestion and high fees. The solution of using layer 2 even being promising is still tricky in that area. Bitcoin Lightning network could be also a solution where we develop these types of solutions, but there are some problems with it, for now, it is only a potential way to transfer BTC everywhere. Maybe the solution that I am searching for doesn't exist and it is what it is. Bitcoin is just a token to hold and the gains are associated with the volatility.

Após chegar à última parte do meu texto, espero que você não tenha criado muita expectativa sobre eu finalmente encontrar a solução de uma maneira de fazer meus tokens BTC se multiplicarem. Não, não encontrei uma grande solução, já que todas elas exigem que troquemos um token para entrar em um investimento que poderia trazer retornos. A causa disso é provavelmente toda a fisiologia da rede BTC. A rede BTC é muito propensa a congestionamentos e taxas altas. A solução de usar a segunda camada, mesmo sendo promissora, ainda é complicada nessa área.
