My last Thursday's post was about debunking a bit about the myth of HBD's APR Scam. So interesting that @crossculture brought a thread competition about cultural superstitions in our countries during this week and that inspired me a bit to talk about a superstition in the financial world which is "High yields are a scam" which is how the HBD's apr was tagged by some people as a scam. Well for sure scammers attract investors to their false projects by saying that they will have a magically high APR with their investment, which in theory is a safe investment. In the end, the scammers just disappear with your money and that's it, good luck trying to get back your money. Risky investments can have a high gain, you can see that in stocks and also in the crypto market. You buy a stock or crypto that you believe you bet that is going to go up, mostly something in the beginning and your forecasts get concrete. This asset gets its value 5x what it is currently worth in the next months. Of course, it can get the other way and be reduced by dust, in the crypto world it is common to happen when a project is rugged by its creators. So it is a way of a crypto investment being at the same time safe and with high profit?

Meu post da última quinta-feira foi sobre desmascarar um pouco o mito do golpe do APR do HBD. É interessante que o @crossculture tenha iniciado uma competição de threads sobre superstições culturais em nossos países durante esta semana e isso me inspirou um pouco a falar sobre uma superstição no mundo financeiro, que é "Altos rendimentos são um golpe", que é como o APR do HBD foi rotulado por algumas pessoas como um golpe. Bem, com certeza os golpistas atraem investidores para seus projetos falsos dizendo que terão um APR magicamente alto com seu investimento, o que teoricamente é um investimento seguro. No final, os golpistas simplesmente desaparecem com seu dinheiro e pronto, boa sorte tentando recuperar seu dinheiro. Investimentos arriscados podem ter um alto ganho, você pode ver isso em ações e também no mercado de criptomoedas. Você compra uma ação ou criptomoeda que acredita que vai subir, na maioria das vezes algo no início e suas previsões se concretizam. Este ativo tem seu valor aumentado em 5x o que vale atualmente nos próximos meses. Claro, pode acontecer o contrário e ser reduzido a pó, no mundo das criptomoedas é comum acontecer quando um projeto é abandonado por seus criadores. Então, é uma forma de investimento em criptomoedas ser ao mesmo tempo seguro e com lucro alto?

Any crypto nowadays, even BTC has a risk. We are here because we believe in crypto in a way that promises beautiful utilities, like Hive in blogging. Also, other projects bring other promises that make the world a little bit different, using more digital resources to replace old utilities that aren't quite working much anymore. One of them is the banking system which is exploring customers all the time with high fees and low interest in their investment products. Here in Canada, you can reach between 5% and 6% APR maximum in a GIC investment, which is a guaranteed return investment with the biggest APR for low-risk investments. Mutual funds in which the APR is variable and riskier are available there are some examples that last year reached 38% of APR, but the accumulated from the last 3 years is a bit lower than that. The most popular products didn't reach 10% APR. Cryptocurrencies have millions of project investments, and some of them have stacking alternatives that bring something bigger compared to these GICs and are also pretty comparable with some ETFs. We know that the investment of cryptocurrencies can have a risk. Even Bitcoin, the most known cryptocurrency has a risk to go to dust, but more and more it proves that it is getting difficult to achieve that. We saw low points that BTC reached and every time that it comes back in a high it gives us some hope of better stability of being here to stay forever. However, BTC doesn't have any protocol for staking and earning interest over it. Maybe some crypto exchanges have some internal projects to do that, like stacking rewards or lending methods, but natively it doesn't. Finding secure projects like BTC that allow doing some type of stacking and getting secure APR is challenging but they exist. Despite Hive not going well lately in the last Bitcoin rise, it is a pretty stable project and HBD is part of that ecosystem. HBD will only have problems when Hive reduces to dust and Hive has been around for quite some years it has also a very small probability of disappearing. If starts to disappear, HBD will be affected and people with HBDs in the savings account have 3 days to withdraw their HBDs in prayer hoping to have enough time to withdraw everything with minimum losses. But there are good other projects that also promise good returns with very low risks compared to high-risk regular investments like stocks.

Polkadot is one of them, right now it is the 13th most negotiated token in the Coinmarket cap tool. It has a stacking feature, in the last bull run it skyrocketed around 50$ for the unit, and right now is swinging between 5 and 8$ the unit. The stacking rewards are around 15% APR which is nice, the only problem is that you have a cooldown to withdraw your funds of 28 days ( pretty similar to hive power right?), the stacking process has two different ways, by nomination (but you need quite a lot of DOTs to do that, the system says a minimum of 250 DOT, however I read that you need at least 500 to start getting rewards) or joining a nomination pool which the minimum is 1 DOT.

Another pretty solid token is Cosmos with their $ATOM symbol. I wrote before about this project and it creates a beautiful crypto ecosystem of multiple blockchains, Terra blockchain which failed with their LUNA token was in there, but Cosmos showed that it is a stable project. Until a while back the stacking rewards of ATOM were 20% APR, but the inflation of the token decided to cut a bit the rewards by 13.4%. The token also takes some time to unstake their tokens, 21 days is the amount of days to wait for it. These are good projects, but in my opinion, the exit plan from these projects is riskier compared to HBD's.

Qualquer criptomoeda hoje em dia, até mesmo o BTC, tem um risco. Estamos aqui porque acreditamos nas criptomoedas de uma forma que promete belas utilidades, como o Hive no blogging. Além disso, outros projetos trazem outras promessas que tornam o mundo um pouco diferente, usando mais recursos digitais para substituir antigas utilidades que não estão mais funcionando tão bem. Um deles é o sistema bancário, que está explorando os clientes o tempo todo com altas taxas e baixo interesse em seus produtos de investimento. Aqui no Canadá, você pode alcançar entre 5% e 6% de APR máximo em um investimento GIC, que é um retorno garantido do investimento com o maior APR para investimentos de baixo risco. Fundos mútuos nos quais o APR é variável e mais arriscado estão disponíveis, há alguns exemplos que no ano passado alcançaram 38% de APR, mas o acumulado dos últimos 3 anos é um pouco inferior a isso. Os produtos mais populares não alcançaram 10% de APR. As criptomoedas têm milhões de investimentos em projetos, e alguns deles têm alternativas de staking que trazem algo maior em comparação com esses GICs e também são bastante comparáveis com alguns ETFs. Sabemos que o investimento em criptomoedas pode ter um risco. Até mesmo o Bitcoin, a criptomoeda mais conhecida, tem o risco de desaparecer, mas cada vez mais prova que está se tornando difícil alcançar isso. Vimos pontos baixos que o BTC alcançou e toda vez que ele volta a subir nos dá alguma esperança de melhor estabilidade de estar aqui para ficar para sempre. No entanto, o BTC não tem nenhum protocolo para staking e ganhar juros sobre ele. Talvez algumas exchanges de criptomoedas tenham alguns projetos internos para fazer isso, como recompensas de staking ou métodos de empréstimo, mas nativamente não tem. Encontrar projetos seguros como o BTC que permitam fazer algum tipo de staking e obter APR seguro é desafiador, mas eles existem. Apesar do Hive não estar indo bem ultimamente na última alta do Bitcoin, é um projeto bastante estável e o HBD faz parte desse ecossistema. O HBD só terá problemas quando o Hive reduzir a poeira e o Hive está por aí há bastante tempo, também tem uma probabilidade muito pequena de desaparecer. Se começar a desaparecer, o HBD será afetado e as pessoas com HBDs na conta de poupança têm 3 dias para retirar seus HBDs em oração, esperando ter tempo suficiente para retirar tudo com perdas mínimas. Mas existem outros bons projetos que também prometem bons retornos com riscos muito baixos em comparação com investimentos regulares de alto risco, como ações.

As recompensas de staking estão em torno de 15% de APR, o único problema é que você tem um período de carência para retirar seus fundos de 28 dias (bastante semelhante ao hive power, certo?), o processo de staking tem duas maneiras diferentes, por nomeação (mas você precisa de um número considerável de DOTs para fazer isso, o sistema diz um mínimo de 250 DOT, no entanto, li que você precisa de pelo menos 500 para começar a receber recompensas) ou juntar-se a um pool de nomeação, cujo mínimo é 1 DOT.

Outro token bastante sólido é o Cosmos com seu símbolo $ATOM. Eu já escrevi antes sobre este projeto e ele cria um belo ecossistema de criptomoedas de múltiplas blockchains, a blockchain Terra que falhou com seu token LUNA estava lá, mas o Cosmos mostrou que é um projeto estável. For sure when people see high yields associated with a project they can be scared of it. But it isn't that it should scare investors. If I was a scammer I would promise yields slightly above the current lowest-risk investment with a high yield. Many other markers can raise red flags about a project, but if you see projects surviving an economic crisis it lowers a bit the probability of your money disappearing the next day with creators running with your money. All the projects here cited can go to dust in the next months, including Hive. But it is a lower probability compared to newer projects that just appeared in the market promising miracles. I am not saying that you can sell your house and invest in these projects, but for sure some amount of money could be interesting to add to them. However, always do your research about all of them.

Com certeza, quando as pessoas veem altos rendimentos associados a um projeto, podem ficar assustadas. Mas não é que isso deva assustar os investidores. Se eu fosse um golpista, prometeria rendimentos ligeiramente acima do investimento de menor risco atual, com um alto rendimento. Muitos outros indicadores podem levantar bandeiras vermelhas sobre um projeto, mas se você vê projetos sobrevivendo a uma crise econômica, isso diminui um pouco a probabilidade de seu dinheiro desaparecer no dia seguinte com os criadores fugindo com seu dinheiro. Todos os projetos citados aqui podem desaparecer nos próximos meses, incluindo o Hive. Mas é uma probabilidade menor em comparação com projetos mais novos que acabaram de surgir no mercado prometendo milagres. Não estou dizendo que você deve vender sua casa e investir nesses projetos, mas com certeza alguma quantia de dinheiro poderia ser interessante para adicioná-los. No entanto, sempre faça sua pesquisa sobre todos eles.
