Happy Thursday gamers! I wish you all an amazing weekend ahead of you and I am hoping that you all are enjoying your day already. It’s been a while since I wrote here but yeah!!! I am back again to express myself, gamers never fold 😝, we play and play and play !

Something happens to our minds when we finally learn or discover that gaming is not only about winning and winning, Infact if we play a certain game and we keep winning repeatedly for a long period of time then something is wrong. Dont get me wrong tho, winning is a good thing and it’s the best feeling ever.

There was a time when I thought the whole point of gaming was simply to win, in my head I feel whenever you enter a match all you are expected to do is defeat your opponent, you complete the mission, you reach the next level and you start to feel good about yourself but something has slowly changed now…. the more I play games, the more I realise that winning is only one small part of what makes gaming interesting, you may not believe me but I will tell you why I think and said so.

Sometimes the most memorable gaming experiences are not even the moments when you win, but the moments when you struggle, make a ridiculous mistake, discover something unexpectedly beautiful, or spend hours trying to understand a game that refuses to make things easy for you and that’s what actually makes the win feel worth it as we all know that nothing good comes easy…. Maybe that easy win wasn’t a good one tho 😂

Gaming teaches us a lot everyday and broadens our mindset and one thing I find fascinating about gaming is how quickly a game can make you emotionally invested in something that technically does not exist. Most times we can spend hours building a character, protecting a village, exploring a fictional city or travelling through a world created entirely by developers and somehow that world starts feeling familiar, just like I know and ça easily identify all the places and locations in the grand theft auto game.
It’s so funny that we remember characters, remember the soundtrack that played during a particular mission or during some stages of game play like in the dream league soccer game my favourite soundtrack is a song that says « I love you for I love you for I love you for life! »
Sometimes you would even remember the first time you found a hidden area or defeated a boss that had been destroying you for hours! And all these memories last very long sometimes for ever….the funny thing is that you can forget many ordinary things that happened during your week, but years later you can still remember exactly where you were when you finally completed that impossible mission, like I just remembered how I defeated the great shao khan of mortal kombat in 2015 😂. Also I think that is one of the reasons games are different from many other forms of entertainment because a movie can make you emotional, yes! but you are watching someone else make the decisions.

In a game, your decisions become part of the story, the table turns around and you become the one who chose to take that dangerous route that leads to victory. Sometimes unlike in movies you become the person who ignored the warning, you become the one who spent all your resources too early and suddenly found yourself fighting a boss with almost nothing left and most interestingly when something happens, you don’t just watch it happen you participated in it, yiu are the causative force!
Even when the story is heavily scripted, there is still this feeling that your hands were involved in creating the experience gaming experience shows us more importance of our role than movies and even music.

There is also something beautiful about the way games allow us to fail without permanently paying the price of failure which makes real life or world very unfair because we pay the price at the end lol.
In most games, you can lose a match, restart a mission, try another strategy and eventually succeed Thats why you can make the wrong decision and learn from it.
This phase is a very important one in gaming Thats why I said winning all the time can actually mean something not too good.
You can spend an entire evening getting destroyed by the same opponent and then suddenly understand what you were doing wrong, and that feeling when something finally clicks is one of the best feelings gaming can give you because you realise that you were not necessarily incapable before but instead you simply had not figured it out yet that is why I don’t completely understand the idea that losing in a game automatically means you wasted your time.

Sometimes losing is actually where the real learning happens!! I hi is with me on this?
When you win easily, you might not even understand why you won but when you lose badly, you start asking questions, questions like…. was my positioning wrong? Did I become predictable? Did I rush too much? Did I panic? Did I use the wrong weapon? Did I misunderstand the opponent? Did I stop paying attention?

Gaming can quietly teach you how to analyse your own behaviour because the consequences appear almost immediately and then you apply them into your real life experience.

There’s so so much to say about why winning alone is not everything about gaming but I’d stop here, so I don’t bore you with long epistles.
I just want us to cultivate the mindset of playing games with an intention to learn while having fun and that it doesn’t end when we lose.

Thank you all for stopping by to read,
Love you 😍
