We often rush to far and wide to get a break from the daily boredom and busyness, but sometimes even the most ordinary moments can give us incredible joy. I witnessed just such an incredible experience the day before yesterday afternoon. Standing on the main road and footover bridge that runs through the city, I enjoyed a unique combination of twilight and urban life.
The sun was setting in the western sky. The harsh sun had receded, spreading a golden and light orange glow across the sky. The air temperature had dropped and a gentle cool breeze was blowing. At that time, I was standing on a crowded footover bridge. The entire city looked completely different from there. The main road stretching to the horizon in front of me and behind me was full of cars. Looking down, it seemed like a moving river. Private cars, buses, trucks, rickshaws, motorbikes, CNG auto rickshaws, all seemed to be moving together in harmony. Every vehicle is busy finding its destination. The combination of headlights coming from afar and red taillights has created an unearthly scene on the road.
Amidst this busyness, there is a strange tranquility. Just standing on the footover bridge and watching the flow below was a wonderful moment. The honking of car horns and the dim light of the afternoon all combined to create a living form of the city. The tall buildings seen from afar also looked peaceful and serene, mixed with this new color of the sky. Many people, like me, have gathered on the footover bridge after finishing work or going out for a walk. Some may be watching the traffic situation from afar, some are taking pictures of the twilight, and some may just be standing and taking a touch of the wind.
Urban busyness and traffic jams sometimes make us gasp for breath. But in this calm light of the afternoon, we have the opportunity to see everything from a slightly different perspective. These small moments really make us realize how beautiful life is and that every day brings new opportunities. Those few minutes on the footover bridge were truly wonderful for me. At the end of the day, these small memories are what stay in our minds and give us the strength to work again.
