As a Yoruba woman from the southwestern part of Nigeria, I hold my culture dear to my heart. We have so many things we do as a culture and traditions. Unfortunately, many of our rich traditions and customs are fading away as we increasingly adopt the cultures of others while neglecting our own.

The aspect of my culture that I would never pass on to my kids is the aspect of carrying masquerades and idol worship. Not even in participating in their masquerade carnival which my culture is widely known for. This is because I would not want them to mingle with supernatural activities that might have lasting consequences.

*Cut off the leeches: Some people come into our lives to just collect, they have no intention of giving back, the worst part is they don't see what you are doing for them as a big deal, when things become hard, it is necessary to cut ties with these kind of people because if you do not, they will end up taking the little with you and leave when they drain you, so cutting them off is necessary...
