one of the first story book I ever read was "The fruit of Honesty" I can't recall when or how old I was, the truth is that book formed the bases for my character and behaviors, the book thought me powerful lessons that there are rewards for being honest and truthful there's a feeling you get for being honest, involuntarily i began imbibing this into my subconscious.
Honesty became my watch word, i will always tell the truth no matter what, I hate pretence, lies, things that if I do them I won't be proud of myself or stand up to say it boldly, this is how a simple novel built my character trait and how I behaved.
personally being honest feels real, like I'm more in control, doing anything, saying anything without stuttering or fidgeting, being bold and clear, that's what being honest mean to me, i want my life to be that way, zero tolerance of lies amd pretence.
just like the book I read many years ago it truly pays to be honest, I have read and heard of many stories of honest people, one time a tricycle rider discovered his passenger forgot a bag filled with money and somehow traced the owner and return it despite the amount of money that was in the bag, this man was rewarded heavily, tho people still came out to backlash the man taging him as foolish and not smart,
onetime I was riding home on my bicycle when my phone fell off my bag, a man took it, when I found out and try calling he picked and ask that we met at a particular spot to collect it, the following morning I stepped out to meet the man and just like that, he gave me my phone without asking for anything, some would have sold it make do with it
personally I have encountered several honest people, who had real chances of doing otherwise
However as I grow older I realize more as the days goes by that being honest only portray a part of you to people of your good nature, kind heart and your good intentions towards them and everything you engage in, more so the average human being take all that for granted, they interpret that to mean you're weak, not smart or foolish, that's why I say being honest in this era can also come with a price.
the average human is selfish, self centered, egocentric and cares very little of the next man or whatever consequences come is after an action, if you're honest you're termed in a certain way but just be yourself and do whatever you like weather or not not hurst the next person don't care
honesty can mean a lot but trust human being ofcourse you can never read their minds and alot is going on in there that we don't know, I am thinking that maybe in the nearest future there could be a technology that could be use to extract certain information from the mind of people who are dead, because a lot of people rather go down to the grave with top secrets than let it out.
