do you know parents are 80% responsible for the destiny of a child?

yesterday I was having this conversation with a friend about how parents hold the key stake in deciding what path their children go through to fulfill life

the Bible said parents train up a child "IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO", so that when he's old he or she won't depart from it, Image from thread

The emphasis here is in the way the child should go not what a parent thinks

in the western world you see certain child manifesting certain traits and immediately the parents understanding this enroll the child in a special program that grooms that child according to the passion or inclination of that child.

so at a very early age you see these kids become prodigy, excelling in the areas of their best interest

This is the predominant issue with African way of parenting, it was very strong in the olden days where parents only desire for their kids to become doctors, lawyers, engineers bankers, architect primarily because they feel that's were the money really is, secondly because their neighbors child who is a medical doctor has traveled abroad and is making so much money for the family, so in this case the end justify the means of what a child eventually becomes as predetermined by the parents.

there's this family that started grooming their kids from a very early age to learn certain skills they feel comfortable with, they are musically inclined and so they already bought sets of instruments in the house ranging from a piano, drums, trumpet and have this set in the house and have a coach train them, also one of them is football inclined he's already enrolled in an academy and they family go out every Saturday to the stadium just for the child to train, this family prioritize their kids excelling in the area of their giftings than circular education

you see this is intentional parenting laying a concrete track for the child to follow, western parent allow thier kids follow their passion and venture into it, be it music, arts, writing, sports, entertainment to an extend the educational system have this extra curricular activities embedded into their system as a very major arm of the institution.

meanwhile our parents never knew this, they thought circular education is all there is to success and living wealthy in life, today most of these kids are graduates with no jobs unemployment rate is high as a result, the mantra was go to study hard, earn good grades and you will be wealthy in reality that has not always been the case

times and seasons are changing and now skills pays way better than just a university certificate.
