before now the norm was go to school study hard earn good grades cause that positions you to get a well paying job in the labour market. little did I realise that the table has turned, your degree alone isn't enough,

getting a degree is like buying bags of rice and keeping them at home, if you don't understand the act and skill of combining that rice with the right ingredients to make a good meal, you can still die of hunger with bags of rice in your house.

today I was speaking with a colleague of mine and I said, before now people were living a normal life but then the 21st-Century comes with so many changes and opportunities, take for instance old Nollywood actors and actress were barely surviving but now a young guy name peller can make in a single month what these old actors made during the whole of their careers, now it isn't just about luck , grace or favor, there's a level of creative skill involved.Image from thread

Blue or white collar jobs?

today's labor market is highly saturated with high end demands ranging from years of experience, level of competence, technical know how and high expectations so as a young graduate where and how do you fit in to the picture, this is the reason why lots of graduate are stranded struggling to fit in yet get bounced out.

we're in an era that genuinely places great value on skills than what your degree says, this is the very obvious and the soonest we began to take hold of this on time the better, the reason unemployment rate is so high isn't because there are no jobs, the reason beyond every other sentiments is the fact that lots of us are unskilled

we grew up with the old mindset of what our parents told us go to school study medicine and boom you're a medical doctor, then we went to school studied hard and came out only to realise that the hospitals are demanding minimum of 10 years experience, that's if you found one, the rest just collect your resume and promise you a call a back

current reality is different from expectations, after all said and done many are out as fresh graduate going back to pay for either physical or online digital skills which is the obvious fact.

what I have come to realize is the fact that everyday there are skills on demand, while we sit somewhere complaining of unemployment rate and the economy individuals, founders, companies are in dare need of people with relevant skills to help out in handling one task or the other, the truth is the way we seek for jobs is the same way companies seek for competence individuals to pay for their service in using their skills and expertise in growing the organization.
