Leadership and team work are two sides of the same coin, I'm a team player and leader but most importantly I don't consider the Leadership position that much, I strongly believe that we all work as a team to achieve the overall targets and objectives of the team.
I read in Dr myles Munroe's book Spirit of leadership that to be a great leader you must be a great follower, because understanding every aspect of what your team is about is how you can lead effectively, I have been in positions were every task I go out first, I initiate the process, instead of folding my hands to watch others I'm in taking over.
being a team player is very important, as a leader I see the team as chain of connected individuals each in a position of importance, if there is a weak-link in the chain it will definitely affect the overall performance of the team, working together, hands on deck till every task is achieved.

another aspect is human valuation, every body is important, treat every member of the team with respect, being a leader i don't carry it on my head rather I treat every of my team members with same respect they will accord me, this does not only give me higher respect but also gives my team member the leverage of being able to speak their minds outloud perform optimally at their best capacity in contributing their value to the team .
while we're people of different tribes race and tongues yet team building gives us all that unique sense of belonging in the sense that we're working towards achieving a common purpose, a win is a win for all, a lost is a lost for all, and so every one works together to see to it that the overall objectives of the team is achieved is will go along way to lift the teams spirit.
