At first glance at the Hivelearners topic for this 3rd edition, one would want to leap for joy because there will be indeed a change. Privatizing roads and water screams improvement in the mode of maintenance, more investors because there will be more profit and even more upgrade and innovative ideals to make sure there are more ways to achieve good profits and then satisfy the people. Generally, there will be some really good improvements on these areas and more but then, the price to pay is what matters and that is what we have to discuss to see if it is really worth it.

Privatizing things like road and water is more like a death sentence to the masses because there will be great restraints due to little or no money. The common man won’t be able to drink water freely again or even travel long distances because the cost of transportation might increase due to the huge capital that would be invested into making good roads and maintaining the old roads. Life will be so sweet for those who are well to do of course but we all know that we have more people struggling financially than those who are doing well financially and this will be a huge challenge because it will affect other aspects of our lives like increased crime rates.

The huge capital that private bodies invest in projects, is mostly because they wish to make more profit and not to necessary make life easy for people. What comes first for them is that they are making profits and little or no losses at all. Private bodies will definitely make sure that the best of most things are provided but then, that in itself is where the restrictions lies for the common man. This new system will definitely make life harder and messier because people will be more tempted to do things illegally just to keep up with the new lifestyle.

The world might turn into a fierce battlefield because such a development is just like dragging people back into slavery as people who will be willing to do anything just to stay alive. Especially on the aspect of water. Water is one of the most abundant resource in this life, placing it in the hands of a private company for me, will not be a good idea at all. It can only be fair the way it is now when we have some that are owned by private companies and the others by government companies. Finding a balance is the only way to make it make sense and acceptable for a long time just like it is now.

There are still some loopholes here and there but then, I believe what we have now is better than completely privatizing those basic things we have. People will no longer have say and access to a lot of things if the roads and water are privatized. But then, I won’t deny the fact that this new development will bring a lot of upgrades and improvements but looking at the disadvantages, it will overwhelm the advantages, so I won’t advice that such a change should happen. Bearing in mind that these private companies are more invested in the returns, their profits than the satisfaction of people (especially the masses) most of the time. Only few of these private companies try to be different but they still get tired at some point too.

Instead of allowing the private companies to take full control, a collaboration is what I will advise. Since the private companies have the innovative ideas and better strategies to make good income, partnerships will bring about a balance since a common ground has to be reached. This will help cut off the excessive profits and still help bring about growth and development in a country or in a region.

This is my response to the topic on ”PRIVATE INDUSTRY”. So what will it be for you, will you rather that our basic amenities be privatized or you prefer it the way it is now with some improvements?

Thanks for reading through. ❤️
