Greetings, dear friends at Worldmappin; welcome to my blog. Today, my journey takes me to a newly inaugurated space in the city of Cumaná, Sucre State, Venezuela—specifically along the “Cinta Costera” (coastal promenade)—a project developed right by the vast expanse of the sea. The capital of Sucre has paid tribute to the "King of Cotorreo and Joropo Estribillo," Hernán Marín. A distinguished musician and composer born in Cumaná, Marín left behind an indelible legacy as a performer of Joropo Oriental and other traditional Venezuelan genres before departing this earthly realm.
The murals honoring the late singer-songwriter depict his portrait amidst significant heritage sites, as well as local flora, fauna, and traditional activities of the Sucre region, such as fishing. Located on Cacique Maragüey Avenue, this venue offers diverse spaces for recreation and leisure, making it ideal for families, tourists, and the general public. Spanning approximately 10,000 square meters with a capacity of 1,500 people, the site features green areas, parking (including accessible spaces), restrooms, dressing rooms, security services, and excellent lighting.
Its open-air design features stone walls, walkways, ramps, and a large plaza with a raised central area—perfect for serving as the main stage for events and festivities. It is surrounded by numerous open-air tiered seating areas, ensuring excellent visibility from any vantage point for the comfort and enjoyment of the audience. In addition to urban art depicting the legendary figure known as "The Voice and Soul of the East"—the greatest exponent of this musical style—the walls display his name and verses from two of his most famous songs: "Yamaray" and "El mar de la esperanza."

Situated by the sea, the Hernán Marín Amphitheater offers incredible scenery and views—such as the marina at the Marina Plaza shopping center—thanks to its extraordinary design. While xerophytic vegetation typical of coastal regions, such as the uvero (sea grape), is commonly found there, ornamental plants have also been incorporated into the landscaping to add vibrancy and color to the setting.
Among the elements that make up this wonderful cultural complex, the "Venezuela" sign stands out; it accompanies the "Mar de la Esperanza" (Sea of Hope) boat, which features a canvas backdrop simulating the sea. The site also offers a romantic spot—a heart-shaped swing—that serves as a popular backdrop for photos taken by locals and tourists alike, especially at night, thanks to a modern, specialized LED lighting system that creates a stunning, vibrant color contrast.
All these elements became my favorite spots when visiting this magnificent cultural space—along with the scenery it offers and the direct view of the sea. As I was leaving, I spotted a sign reading "Sucre Inspires Me"—an uplifting message encouraging us to be better people every day and to care for the city while strengthening its roots and identity. You can feel the sea breeze throughout the entire visit; do you think it’s inspiring, too?.

Saludos estimados amigos de Worldmappin, bienvenidos a mi blog. Hoy mi viaje se centra en un nuevo espacio que han inaugurado en la ciudad de Cumaná, estado Sucre, Venezuela, específicamente en la Cinta Costera, un proyecto que se llevó a cabo frente a la inmensidad del mar. En la capital sucrense han rendido homenaje al “Rey del Cotorreo y el Joropo Estribillo”, Hernán Marín, un destacado músico y compositor nacido en Cumaná y que antes de partir de este plano terrenal nos dejó un legado imborrable como intérprete del Joropo Oriental y otros géneros tradicionales en Venezuela.
Los murales en honor al fallecido cantautor, recrean su retrato en medio de patrimonios importantes, además de fauna, flora y actividades típicas de la región sucrense como lo es la pesca. Este recinto ubicado en la Avenida Cacique Maragüey, cuenta con espacios diversos para la recreación y el esparcimiento, ideales para el disfrute de familias, turistas y el público en general. Cuenta con una extensión aproximada de 10.000 m2 para albergar un total de 1.500 personas, lo conforman áreas verdes, estacionamiento, incluyendo zonas para discapacitados, baños, camerinos, seguridad y una excelente iluminación.
Su construcción sin techo consta de muros empedrados, caminerías, ramplas, una gran plazoleta con un centro elevado, especial para ser el escenario principal de eventos y festividades. Lo circundan numerosas gradas a espacio abierto para una mejor visibilidad desde cualquier punto en beneficio y comodidad de los espectadores. En los muros, además del arte urbano con la imagen de quien fue el máximo exponente del estribillo conocido como "La voz y el alma de Oriente", han colocado su nombre y algunas estrofas de dos de sus canciones más famosas, “Yamaray” y “El mar de la esperanza.”

El anfiteatro Hernán Marín al estar ubicado a orillas del mar, en su extraordinario diseño nos regala paisajes y vistas increíbles, como la Marina ubicada en el centro Comercial Marina Plaza. Es común encontrar vegetación xerófila y típica de las regiones costeras, como el Uvero, no obstante, han incluido en el diseño de sus jardines plantas ornamentales para imprimirle alegría y color al lugar.
De los elementos que conforman este maravilloso complejo cultural destacan: el letrero de “Venezuela” que acompaña al bote “Mar de la Esperanza” que incluye un lienzo que simula al mar. Este recinto también ofrece un espacio romántico, un columpio con forma de corazón, centro de la toma de muchas fotografías por partes de lugareños y turistas, sobre todo de noche, gracias a un sistema de iluminación moderno y especializado tipo LED que aporta un hermosísimo contraste de colores muy intenso.
Todos estos elementos se convirtieron en mis zonas favoritas al visitar este grandioso espacio cultural, además de los paisajes que nos regala, la vista directa al mar. Ya para despedirme, veo un letrero, “Sucre me inspira”, un mensaje alentador para ser mejores cada día, como personas y en pro de cuidar la ciudad, fortalecer sus raíces e identidad. La brisa marina la puedes sentir durante todo el recorrido, crees que también inspira?.
