Greetings, dear friends! Welcome to my blog. I’m participating once again in the photo contest organized by @qurator, Qurator's Photo Quest | Rootss. The photograph for this contest was taken on Humboldt Avenue in Cumaná, Sucre State, Venezuela. This tree is called an Amate and is one of the oldest in the city.

This tree is an icon that graces the garden of the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Museum. It is known for its immense roots, which grow so large that they wrap around other trees and rocks. It doesn’t need to be watered; its proximity to the Manzanares River allows it to absorb the water it needs to stay standing through its extensive root system. In ancient times, after boiling and grinding its bark, the villagers were able to produce handmade paper for their writings.
