one of the best thing that happened all these years on internet is the fact that anyone can crowdfund for their own needs, anyone who's deserving and needy can easily sort out funds for them online.
and there's obviously a side of it that gives people more of a hope, more hope in humanity and it's what makes us human and somehow the faith in humanity is being restored because of these acts.
Now there's a debate that crowdfunding platforms are being exploited easily by people, there's cases where scammers are getting funded cause they're good at making up stories, proofs.
I remember when once the campaign went wrong
It was back in 2021 I still remember that there was a campaign on BCHflipstarter that was crowdfunded by the community fully because the idea was to help spread adoption in a X place.
Someone found out the pictures that were attached of the said person were created by AI and it was quite a shocking thing back then cause we just are living in that time when ai have become so good at what it does that we can't tell the difference between real and fake anymore.
Anyways that one time did the damage it was supposed to do and everything went downhill since then like wouldn't trust on people easily.
Look for a cause
Now my approach for taking part in anything like that is entirely based on if the cause is serious and deserving.
We can all do our paperwork before donating someone something on the internet and when we are doing with the intention of helping someone, it doesn't matter even if they turn out to be the scammer.
But it would suck to be the person funding someone who's an scammer or doing for the attention.
Everyone have that capacity to tell what's right and wrong, nowadays because of ai anyone can come up with some evidence that they're in dire need of something and you'd end up getting manipulated by them and donating them what they don't deserve.
I kind of once fell for that kind of scam because the person was someone I knew and manipulated me by making me all emotional by doing that sob talk and he had an idea that I have money so somehow I just couldn't say no and later found myself blocked.
It sucks to live in the same world as these people but there are more people who deserves the help so we should do what we can, where we can, these platforms has just made it a lot easier to help since they also investigate those cases and make sure that money is going to the right place, I hope your experience have been good enough to go for it again.
