Further searching in my treasure box, I find this 4 Maravedis coin from 1621. The date is just hardly visible, but with close inspection, 1621 can be read. Although the last number is a bit of a guess.
The obverse shows a lion (It's upside-down in the photo) and date on the top.
The reverse has a castle on it. It is situated right side up, so whoever encased this, thought this was the obverse. The castle is more recognizable than the lion.
This coin has been clipped many times, all around the edges and a big bite out of the side.
This coin has been clipped back from it's original size. It's a little smaller than a penny, little larger than a dime.
The original size of this coin was about the size of a nickel!
