Jamie took another look at the proposal before her and gave a low chuckle. She knew very well that her father wasn't going to send the sum of 50,000 US dollars to her step mother, especially to start up a business as ridiculous as the one she had mapped out on The paper in front of her.

It was titled ‘Food sources investment’ and there was a funny plan to invest in planting plants and animals for food production. In Jamie's opinion, If she wanted to run a successful business, she should have opted for a boutique.
Her father was in the garden reading one of those boring papers of his when Jamie approached him.
“Your wife asked me to give this to you” she said, thrusting the paper into his hands. He gave it one glance and folded it into his shirt pocket.
“I'll take a look at it after dinner”
Content with his reply, Jamie sauntered off to work on the new designs she was making for HoverTech.
Just like her mom taught her before she passed on, investments needed to be made where one was sure of profitable returns, which was why she was putting all her effort into working with Alim Sherif, the founder of HoverTech, instead of looking for ways to pitch her designs on her own like her step mother suggested severally.
She was halfway through one of her ingenious sketches when she heard a soft knock at her room door. Her eyes met with Christie's sea green eyes and she scoffed.
“Yes?”
“I'm sorry if I'm bothering you, Jamie. I wanted to know if you read my business proposal and if you gave it to your dad too”
Sometimes, it was difficult for Jamie to hate her stepmother. She had a way of being coy and Jamie had no choice but to entertain her.
“I looked at the proposal but I can't say the same for my dad”
“What can't you say about me?” Her father's hoarse voice called out from behind Christie.
“Hi, I didn't think you would be here” Christie flashed him a small smile.
“I came to ask Jamie if she had come across my spare reading glasses. I Sat on the other one by mistake” he said, walking into his daughter's room and sitting on the bed. “Come on Christie. Sit beside me” he patted the spot beside him on the bed and Christie's eyes met with Jamie's first. When the younger woman shrugged, she went into to sit beside her husband.
“So, what do you intend to do about this weird animals and plants business you intend to start?” Jamie asked with a crude smile on her face. She was sure her father hadn't taken time to go through the proposal so she intended to let him know how hilarious his new wife's idea was.
“Animals and plants? What sort of business is that?” Her father turned to Christie, Jamie almost burst into laughter at the expression on his face.
“I wrote a proposal regarding the business I told you about starting up, I thought you would have time to go through it yourself”
“This business. What's the concept?”
Jamie identified the look on Christie's face as one of uncertainty but before she could get used to it, Christie began to speak.
“I was thinking of investing in the food source business. You know, get a farm for both plants and animals, get someone to manage it and become a supplier to other retail or wholesale food production companies”
“Wow” Jamie didn't like the look on her father's face but she couldn't say she didn't like the idea either. To begin with, it was unique and Jamie loved unique.
“Tell me more about this plan. How do you intend to get the farms, the hands, the animals and seeds, that's going to be a whole lot of work” her father replied.
“Well, I thought about concentrating on one aspect of the business before diversifying into the big picture. You know, start up a dairy farm then plant fruits and vegetables for starters. I could decide to stick with that in the long run or decide to expand my coast. All this depends on how well I can handle the business over time of course”
Jamie didn't expect her father to clap his hands excitedly and throw his arms around Christie the way he did.
“I'm proud of you. Drop the budget on my table first thing in the morning tomorrow. Let's get a farm and running!” Completely forgetting his glasses, he rose and walked out of Jamie's room.
“CongrstulaI guess you're really starting the business eh?” Jamie gave Christie a small smile. Christie didn't respond, she just smiled back and walked out after her husband.
