Theresa has always been known as a bookworm, if she isn't in the faculty's classroom arena then definitely she would be at the school library. She was always punctual and regular to lectures, she always had up-to-date lecture notes. Her assignments were always ready beforehand. She was a sweet and smart lady. One to be considered as a scholar or an academician because of her passion for school work.

Theresa's attitude to school life made it difficult for her to maintain a social relationship with others, she had only time for her books; every other thing seemed to be a distraction to her. As a 200-level student from the Department of Biological Science at the University of Abuja, Theresa didn't take chances with her academics. It was either her books or nothing else. Her studies were her number one priority.
Her lifestyle was worth admiration but it was difficult to approach her for anything, she was a one-man squad. She moves alone and it is rare to find her in the company of others, It is far better to admire her from a distance. She probably wasn't everyone's favorite but the undeniable truth was she was excelling quite impressively in her academics. The lecturers sang her praises during classes because of her level of commitment to her studies. Now, this got the attention of Thompson towards her.
Thompson took the bold and courageous step of asking her out but got disappointed and rejected because his grades were on average and there could be chances of falling below the lines.
Thompson after several failed attempts to win her attention and love, decided to spy on her, believing he would uncover her secret to success and prove a point. He began to keep a close eye on her activities, he realized that for Theresa, the success of her academic performance was her rigorous and long hours of studying. She read and studied outside the scope of the courses offered in the department.
Being confident that he had discovered her secret weapon, Thompson also began a session of long hours studying. He read without comprehension, he lost so much weight because of stress and lack of adequate rest. Even when he was advised by those concerned about his health, he was determined to make Theresa notice him and be in a relationship with him.
Days turn to weeks and weeks turn to months, Thompson wasn't ready to give up on his quest, soon examination timetable was placed on the departmental notice board, and that only triggered him to spend more hours studying.
On the first day of the examination, the examination started at 11 am, a course with a 3-credit load (Bio 205; An Introduction to Cell and Developmental Biology). Just about 45 minutes into the examination, Thompson was blank, he couldn't think of the answers to the question even though the examination questions were quite easy at least for those persons who must have studied. He sat staring into space, it was such an uncommon experience for him.
Time's up, he had to submit his answer booklet barely answering the questions correctly.
Two days later, ready for the next examination, Thompson collapsed in the hall and had to be rushed to the school clinic for medical attention, the nurses carried out a few tests on him and discovered that he was malnourished and had developed an ulcer wound around his chest region. His parents had to be contacted and he was referred to the specialist hospital for proper checkup and treatment, he was advised to be placed on bed rest for a couple of weeks.
By the time, he returned to school, examinations were over and he had to defer the semester; he would have to re-take the examinations next year. Thompson had to learn his lessons in the most hard way. Determined to win a lady's attention at the detriment of his health and academics was a terrible experience.
That Theresa could study for long hours without breaking down doesn't mean the same principle would be favorable to others, knowing your capability and capacity saves you from imposing threats or dangers. Many times people ignore them, all they ever want is to be like someone else no matter the cost.
Nothing beats the feeling of being oneself, exceptional in your ways, rather than wanting to be someone else. Sometimes we are fascinated by what others can do or achieve without realizing that we are wired differently. We react or respond to situations differently and that makes us unique in our ways.
Just like Thompson, we sometimes want to prove a point, we want to be on top of our games, and we can't afford to be seen as weak or imperfect, now, if so be the case, then it would be wise handling such issues in our ways and not copying another's.
