Hace como una semana atrás la FIFA realizó el sorteo de lo que será el mundial de clubes, un torneo que será cada 4 años y que contará con los clubes que mejor estén posicionados en el ranking, además de los campeones de cada torneo continental, al final son 32 equipos, tal venía siendo el mundial de selecciones. Pero entonces uno cuando ve estas cosas se hace la pregunta, ¿realmente era necesario otro torneo más de este estilo en el fútbol actual? - y miren que el que les está escribiendo es un fanático acérrimo del fútbol pero hay veces en las que uno tiene que ver las cosas en frío y pensar si estos torneos más que beneficiar al espectáculo lo van a terminar de sepultar.

Hay que entender que lamentablemente este deporte es un negocio manejado por los grandes jerarcas, Infantino el primero en esa lista, que lo que están haciendo es inflar al mundo de fútbol sin pensar mucho, creería yo, en las consecuencias. Porque a todos estas, los más perjudicados son los jugadores por el abusivo y excesivo calendario al que están expuestos ya la prueba de ellos son las cientos de lesiones que se están viendo últimamente.

Ver un Manchester City vs Wydad AC o un Club León vs Flamengo yo diría es cero atractivo pero también es verdad que por ahí hay otros juegos interesantes, un Boca vs Bayern, River vs Inter, Atlético de Madrid vs Botafogo, etc. La realidad es que el cómo haya quedado conformado el torneo no importa tanto, el tema es el torneo en si mismo; no creo que haya habido una razón lógica y bien fundamentada para la creación de esta nueva copa de clubes.

Pero claro, para los que no lo sepan esto estaba previsto para hacerse en el 2020 pero debido a la pandemia se tuvo que retrasar hasta el 2021. De nuevo, la mala planificación y la sobresaturación de partidos en esa época debido a lo que se había dejado de jugar durante el COVID hicieron que lo aplazaran hasta el año que viene. Siento que el fútbol se está desvirtuando mucho, creo que ya no es tan exclusivo como lo era antes. Cuando hablo de exclusividad me refiero a que para ir a cualquier torneo había que ser el mejor, había que luchar realmente por los cupos; hoy en día al haber tantos formatos y formas de clasificar esa meritocracia se ha ido perdiendo considerablemente.

Esta democratización del fútbol siento que le va a quitar mucha mística y magia al deporte, estoy 100% seguro que el mundial del 2026 será uno bastante pobre a nivel de calidad. Más no significa mejor, la cantidad no puede estar por encima de la calidad y eso es algo que los dirigentes actuales no están entendiendo. No digo que este mundial de clubes vaya a ser un fracaso, muchos lo verán, yo lo veré pero eso no lo exime de que sea una vil una creación con fines económicos, es muy complicado que me crea que el verdadero fin de esto sea meramente lo deportivo.

I feel that this democratization of soccer will take away a lot of mystique and magic from the sport, I am 100% sure that the 2026 World Cup will be a very poor one in terms of quality.
