Hola amigos, buenas vibras para todos.
Hello friends, good vibes to all.

The Dutch Grand Prix officially ran its last race this past weekend, as it will no longer be on the official racing calendar after 2027. Its departure is due to the fact that the costs of maintaining it have reached a point where they exceed the capacity of the private company that operates it. This circuit does not receive public funding, unlike some others, so renovating it, as required by Formula 1, is not viable. While it could have been done, the profit would have been zero, making it an unacceptable financial decision. It is known that Formula 1 is looking at other venues; in fact, Portugal and Turkey have already been confirmed again, and Madrid will make its debut in September.
For many people, Zandvoort is a boring circuit because overtaking is very difficult due to its narrowness and lack of long straights. But surprisingly, all these characteristics helped us have a great race this year. Why? Because without those endless straights, the batteries don't deplete as quickly or completely, thus maintaining relatively consistent speeds. The season remains wide open. The dominance Mercedes displayed at the beginning of the season is no longer as pronounced. They are still performing well, but they are no longer dominating as they once did. This is because McLaren is gradually regrouping, and Ferrari remains at the same level, trying to put up a fight whenever circumstances allow.

Yesterday's winner was the reigning world champion, Lando Norris, who now has two consecutive victories, in Hungary and yesterday. As I mentioned, McLaren's performance in recent races, after a series of upgrades, has been quite good and acceptable; the leap forward they've made is considerable. Lando's race, and the weekend in general, was up to par. From the very beginning, he managed to maintain the lead, holding off the two Mercedes behind him. But of course, Norris is one thing, and Piastri is another. Although he finished sixth, his race was terrible, with many pit stops. They used the wrong strategy with him; frankly, he was far from his teammate's performance. The Mercedes are doing well, but not quite there yet; that synergy they had last year is missing this season. Even so, they are third in the constructors' championship.
It definitely wasn't Red Bull's weekend. Hadjar was injured and couldn't race; Lawson took his place, and Max Verstappen crashed on the first lap. The fact that the Dutchman couldn't race at his home track of Zandvoort was a major blow for the fans, and I imagine for him as well. Verstappen is sixth in the standings with 112 points, far from a competitive level. The positive point is that Lawson finished P7, something that wasn't expected, so at least they managed to score some points there. On the other hand, we have Ferrari, that team that always seems close to achieving great things but, for various reasons, falls just short. Yesterday was no exception; once again, we saw the internal "war" between the two drivers and the team's inability to resolve things on the track.

Lewis Hamilton is fighting for the championship, currently tied for second place with Russell at 183 points, 59 behind leader Antonelli. Yesterday, the Briton could have finished on the podium if the team had given the order to overtake Leclerc in time. Precious time was lost, leaving Hamilton in fourth place. Ferrari seems to always try to protect the Monegasque driver when the reality should be different: help your driver stay close to the championship. Obviously, Lewis wasn't happy about it. I think if the overtake had been quicker, he could have easily passed Russell, but oh well. And to wrap things up, let's talk about Mercedes and how well Antonelli continues to perform. Yesterday, he secured a solid P2 by decisively overtaking Russell on the first lap. Little by little, we see the Italian overtaking his teammate, a situation that George doesn't like at all, as he made clear again yesterday.
Russell is a driver I don't like, not because of his driving, but because he's a whiner, a real crybaby, and that makes him seem unimportant. Mercedes did what Ferrari had been thinking about for a long time, and Kimi overtook Russell towards the end of the race, even though he was much slower. That happened because Toto Wolff understands that Kimi is the championship leader and needs to keep scoring points. The thing is, as a team they're very solid, and their cars are performing well. Of course, Russell is also fighting for the championship, so things are getting even more interesting because now we have three very serious contenders in the running. In two weeks, we're heading to Monza, one of the fastest circuits on the calendar.
