El 27 de marzo de este 2026 en la ciudad de Doha, Catar, se iba a jugar un partido el cual era sumamente llamativo y que innegablemente despertaba muchas pasiones entre los fanáticos tanto de cada selección como del futbol en general. Por problemas de causa mayor dicho partido se tuvo que suspender y no conforme con eso al final ninguna de las partes se pudieron poner de acuerdo para elegir otro sitio para la disputa; y así fue como las expectativas de un gran espectáculo quedaron olvidadas. Pero la vida y sobretodo el futbol siempre dan segundas oportunidades y en este caso los dioses de este deporte decidieron que la final de un mundial, nada más y nada menos, fuera aquel partido que iba a detener al mundo. Y si, miren que lo va a detener.
On March 27th of this year, 2026, in Doha, Qatar, a highly anticipated match was scheduled, one that undeniably stirred passions among fans of both teams and football in general. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the match had to be postponed, and to make matters worse, neither side could agree on an alternative venue. Thus, the expectations of a spectacular event were dashed. But life, and especially football, always offer second chances, and in this case, the gods of the sport decided that the World Cup final, no less, would be the match that would captivate the world. And indeed, it will.
Cada selección llega de diferentes maneras. España llega habiendo hecho un camino un tanto más complicado que la Argentina, les tocó eliminar la que era favorita para muchos, Portugal; después les tocó Bélgica en un partido incomodo y la guinda del pastel fue bailar con las más fea, con Francia. Acá se pasaron dos cosas. Los españoles hicieron su mejor partido del mundial pero con mucha diferencia mientras que los franceses hicieron el peor. El nivel de dominio absoluto de España contra una superpotencia como Francia fue algo que da hasta miedo, la capacidad que tuvieron para neutralizar a jugadores como Olise, Dembelé, Barcolá, Doué y al propio Mbappé fue de una selección ultra top. Es más, la razón del porque los galos jugaron tan mal fue precisamente esa, su incapacidad de poder superar a un equipo que los dominaba en todas las líneas.

Spain's absolute dominance against a superpower like France was almost frightening; their ability to neutralize players like Olise, Dembélé, Barcolá, Doué, and even Mbappé himself was the mark of an ultra-top-tier team. Moreover, the reason the French played so poorly was precisely that: their inability to overcome a team that dominated them in every aspect of the game.
Jugadores como Cucurella, Fabian Ruiz (quien sentó a Pedri), Dani Olmo, Baena y Oyarzabal son algunos de los que demostraron un nivel muy bueno, especialmente contra Francia. Se que deberíamos de enfocarnos en lo que ha sido todo el mundial pero esto es así, en un partido se puede decidir todo para bien o para mal. Me sorprende mucho que haya sido contra Francia cuando mejor haya jugado España, esto puede decir del nivel de compromiso, enfoque y de lo claro que estaban que era ese partido el que mejor tenían que pararse en cancha. Al final terminó imponiéndose el estilo de juego más funcional y el más directo. Ahora, ¿qué podemos decir de Argentina? - para mi esto es como el yin yang, son selecciones con un transitares muy distintos entre si.
Players like Cucurella, Fabian Ruiz (who benched Pedri), Dani Olmo, Baena, and Oyarzabal are some of those who demonstrated a very high level, especially against France. I know we should focus on the entire World Cup, but that's how it is; everything can be decided in one match, for better or for worse. I'm very surprised that Spain played their best against France. This speaks to their level of commitment, focus, and how clear they were that this was the match where they had to perform at their best. In the end, the most functional and direct style of play prevailed. Now, what can we say about Argentina? For me, it's like yin and yang; they are teams with very different trajectories.
Para este humilde servidor los actuales campeones del mundo han tenido una copa sumamente emocional. Lo digo porque desde Cabo Verde hasta Inglaterra les ha tocado venir desde atrás, haciendo la épica y la heroica para lograr las victorias. Esto es algo que sin dudas ayuda un montón a lo que es el ambiente y los estados de ánimo, sin estar dentro se puede saber o deducir que la energía que hay en ese vestuario es eléctrica y gigantesca. A todo esto hay que sumarle el partido contra los ingleses, que como había dicho, era especial porque es algo que traspasa las fronteras del deporte, ciertamente no hay que mezclar nada al respecto pero es algo inevitable. La rivalidad en el futbol siempre ha existido, de ahí a que haya generado tantos sentimientos.

I say this because, from Cape Verde to England, they've had to come from behind, performing epic and heroic feats to achieve victory. This undoubtedly contributes greatly to the atmosphere and the team's morale; even without being on the field, one can tell or deduce that the energy in that locker room is electric and immense. To all this, we must add the match against England, which, as I mentioned, was special because it transcends the boundaries of sport. Certainly, we shouldn't mix the two, but it's unavoidable. Rivalry in football has always existed, hence the intense emotions it has generated.
Con este partido en particular hay que decir que Argentina hizo el mejor segundo tiempo de todo el mundial. Desde esta tribuna se hablaba que Da Paul no podía seguir siendo titular y en este encuentro entró como revulsivo y fue el mejor, Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández y el propio Paredes creo que se reivindicaron bastante y ni hablar de Messi que sin sus goles fue el que hizo las dos asistencias. Pronosticar este resultado es increíblemente complicado porque ambas selecciones tienen calidad cuando se lo proponen y tienen la garra que también hace falta. Unos les ganaron a dos de los grandes favoritos y rivales modernos; los otros avanzaron ganando a sus rivales dentro y fuera del campo además de venir logrando grandes hazañas en este mundial. ¿Quién entonces llega en mejor estado? - pues lo veremos el domingo. Y si, que gane el mejor.
