El día domingo se corrió la última carrera antes del parón de verano en la Fórmula 1 y es que el próximo gran premio será el 25 de agosto, el de los Países Bajos en el circuito de Zandvoort. Es por esto que lo hecho este pasado fin de semana era tan importante para casi todos los equipos ya que es una manera de cerrar una parte de la temporada para poder hacer lo correctivos y tomar la decisiones que sean necesarias. Por ejemplo, es sabido que la continuidad del Checo Pérez está en la mira a pesar de haber sido renovado y es que en Bélgica volvió a tener una actuacion un poco decepcionante, salir de segundo y terminar octavo no es algo que en Red Bull esperaban, las expectativas eran altas después de la pole position.

Esta carrera les digo que fue de las mejores del año porque en todo momento hubo acción, no fue plana en ninguna etapa porque al ser muy veloz y el circuito el más largo daba pie a que las estrategias marcaran la pauta. Lo normal eran dos paradas porque esta pista degrada mucho los neumáticos pero en esto fue en donde Mercedes se salió de los libros y es que el propio Russell pidió hacer una sola, algo que es impensable. Hay que decir que la carrera que hizo el joven británico fue brillante, lograr mantener el liderato con el asedio de Lewis y con unas gomas que no estaban obviamente en las mejores condiciones. Que claro, él lograr escalar a esa posición debido a que los demás fueron entrando a pits. Fue una carrera muy limpia, no hubo incidentes pero tampoco hicieron falta porque todo lo que tiene que ver con undercuts, cambios de cauchos y el timing para entrar a pits determinó en gran medida las plazas finales.

Pero, ¿qué pasó entonces? - resulta que a Russell al final lo descalifican de la carrera porque su auto no dio con el peso reglamentario, estuvo 2kgs por debajo de lo reglamentario. El por qué es sencillo. Al no parar esos cauchos se desgastaron más de la cuenta lo que hizo que el carro fuese menos pesado. Entiendo el reglamento pero me parece una tontearía monumental. Es una lastima que una carrera hecha casi a la perfección por George Russell se le haya sido arrebatada de esa manera. Con esto Hamilton subió al primer lugar y se lleva este premio. ¿Merecido? - creo que si, Lewis hizo una muy buena carrera pero evidentemente el sabor amargo de boca es latente.

Otra carrera floja para el mexicano. A pesar de puntuar, que era algo que no hacía desde hace un tiempo, el desempeño no fue el esperado. Lando Norris. Algo pasa con él que siempre en las partidas sale mal, en la primera vuelta perdió como tres posiciones. Y los destacables, además de los Mercedes, Piastri. Este piloto está mostrando mucho temple y pulso, otro podio para él. En fin, una carrera muy top, muy técnica, en donde hubo acción de principio a fin. Y sobretodo, competitividad, cada vez están más cerrados los grandes premios.
