Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used A'lan Musketeer.
Featured cards

A'lan Musketeer is a neutral monster that costs 8 mana. It only has the double strike ability, but I think it is a fairly good card in Frontier. I got this card recently, and I have noticed that it's a good addition because it is neutral and it can be placed in most fights if I need it. I absolutely love using this card in Frontier due to its damage.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Brute Force and Tis But Scratches. This means that attack goes first in turn order and all monsters gain the cripple ability. There is also 35 mana available, and I can use every splinter except earth.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barthalamas | 6 | Summoner | +1 speed |
| Frankarsgard | 7 | 1st | |
| Chaos Furybringer | 6 | 2nd | Reach |
| Sturdy Axe Warden | 8 | 3rd | |
| A'lan Musketeer | 8 | 4th | Double Strike |
| Total Mana: | 35 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. I went with Barthalamas as my archon for the +1 speed, and Frankarsgard is my tank. Chaos Furybringer is my backup tank with reach because of its high stats. After that are my ranged monsters as damage dealers.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have a slight advantage because I have faster speed than my opponent. A'lan Musketeer is such a great card, but it will also get hit hard due to my opponent's backline monsters. However, that spread-out damage is another disadvantage that they have.
Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent's lineup is reduced to 2 monsters, while I still have all of mine. However, my monsters are also low health, so it was quite dangerous. I have this win in because I focused all my damage, and my monsters are faster than my opponent's.

I won the match as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. I love using A'lan Musketeer as it is such a powerful card, and it was the only reason I could take out my opponent's tank fast enough. My cards were close to dying, and it was quite dangerous, so it was nice to see that my opponent messed up by spreading out his damage.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
