Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used A'lan Musketeer.
Featured cards

A'lan Musketeer is a neutral monster that costs 8 mana. It only has the double strike ability, but I think it is a fairly good card in Frontier. I got this card recently, and I have noticed that it's a good addition because it is neutral and it can be placed in most fights if I need it. I absolutely love using this card in Frontier due to its damage.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Beefcakes and Witch Hunt. This means that only monsters with at least 5 health can be used, and ranged monsters deal double damage to magic monsters. There is also 25 mana available, and I can use every splinter except fire and life.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurelia | 6 | Summoner | +1 Health |
| Dread Tafarian | 9 | 1st | Heal |
| A'lan Musketeer | 8 | 2nd | Double Strike |
| Total Mana: | 23 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Aurelia for the +1 health. Dread Tafarian is my tank with heal. After that is A'lan Musketeer with double strike. In this ruleset, A'lan Musketeer will deal 8 damage if my opponent chooses to use a magic monster.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I do have the advantage due to A'lan. If I don't miss, this should be an easy win because Dread heals 3 per turn.
Round 3

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to just 1 monster left, and this is my win because I can heal the damage that my opponent can do.

I won the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time did go exactly as planned. My lineup had a great tank in front of my enemy, and A'lan Musketeer just wrecked my opponent. That double damage made quick work of my opponent's first monster, and gave me an easy win.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
