Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Alva the Crusher.

Featured cards

Alva the Crusher is a fire splinter that costs 6 mana. This splinter starts with the bloodlust and shield ability. Leveling up this card increases the stats of this monster, and it learns retaliate at level 5 and stun at level 9. It's a card that I use in Brawls because you don't get access to gladiators much otherwise.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Beefcakes and Enraged Warrior. This means that only monsters with 5 or more health can be used, and melee monsters move faster. There is also 38 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for fire, life, and dragon.

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Kelya Frendul for the +1 armor and speed. My tank is Alva the Crusher with shield and bloodlust. My backup tank is Flying Squid with reach and Daigendark Surveyor. Following that is Demented Shark with inspire, Deeplurker with opportunity, and Swamp Spitter with repair

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match is my win because I have a higher speed than my opponent, and the inspir increases my melee damage. This will allow me to kill off my opponent's stronger monsters without too many issues, and my repair can keep my tanks alive to an extent.

Round 4

A few rounds later, my opponent is down to 1 monsters while I have all of mine left. This is my win because I am faster.

I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did go exactly as planned. Alva did such a great job of tanking hits due to the shield ability, and my repair monster helped keep it alive. Following that, my melee monsters were amazing damage dealers due to the inspire by Demented Shark, and the speed difference made this fight quite easy.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
