Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Arachne Weaver.
Featured cards

Arachne Weaver is a death splinter that costs 5 mana. It starts with opportunity. It learns corrupted healing, scavenger at level 2, and poison at level 6. This is a situational card for me, but I use it quite a bit for the healing.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time is Briar Patch. This means that all monsters gain the thorns ability. There are also 51 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for water, earth, and life.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dolfar Darflak | 3 | Summoner | Dark/Fire |
| Ulundin Overseer | 11 | 1st | |
| Flame for Hire | 5 | 2nd | Void |
| Mindless Thrall | 8 | 3rd | Phase |
| Helheim Demon | 10 | 4th | Taunt and Flying |
| Arachne Weaver | 5 | 5th | Corrupted Healing |
| Rush Townsend | 9 | 6th | Ambush and Affliction |
| Total Mana: | 51 |
The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Dolfar Darflak for dark/fire splinters. I have Ulundin Overseer up front, and Flame for Hire as a backup tank with void. Following that is Mindless Thrall with phase, and Helheim Demon with taunt. Then I have Arachne Weaver for the healing and Rush Townsend as a damage dealer.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but my opponent has a slight advantage. I do have healing, while my opponent has the damage advantage.
Round 5

A few rounds later, my opponent has 1 monster left, but I still have 5 of mine. This match is my win because I have 3 magic monsters that can't miss.

I won the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle did go exactly as planned. I am glad that I used the taunt monster as it was able to soak in enough attacks and give my team some time to attack. After that, my Overseer never died and the Arachne Weaver's corrupted healing did an amazing job of keeping my Overseer alive for the rest of my lineup.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
